FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Our pricing starts with a baseline quote. However, it can change based on several factors. For Hair: Length & Complexity of Style. If a Mother has short hair we give her a break in the price. Likewise, if a bridesmaid has a ton of hair, seeking spiral curls which take over 30 minutes to do, there will be an upcharge. Makeup prices tend to remain the same for bridesmaids. Brides are priced higher due to the higher degree of attention required for highlighting, contouring, and other aspects of makeup artistry. Jr. Bridesmaids and Flower Girls are priced accordingly. Other factors such as additional artists on call, travel, time restraints and locations all influence the final pricing.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
All of my assignments make me proud. I love seeing the look on a bride's face when she takes that final look. Or a dad who's eyes glisten with tears as he compliments me for making his princess breath-takingly beautiful. Or when the groom tells his bride as she walks down the aisle towards him that she looks beautiful. These moments are precious to me. But this incident was really a show stopper. It was a Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. I received a call from a girl crying and quite desperate. Nora could hardly talk. I calmed her down after she explained that the"pro" she hired didn't show up. With no hairstylist or makeup artist she needed to be ready for her wedding at 12:00. Yikes! I hardly had time to brush my teeth! But I immediately hopped out of bed, and appeared at her door... Scary...a makeup artist with no makeup on and hair that dreadfully needed attention. But... as I promised her... I'd be there within a half hour. I told her... it's not what I look like...but how you'll look in less than an hour and a half. She was so happy she hugged me a million times. Long story short.... she looked beautiful and she was more than happy, actually estatic! She said "You saved my day". That was such a great feeling and a memory I'll never forget. I just couldn't imagine a bride in that situation. I had to help and so happy I changed my usual Sunday plans to help her out.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Basically, Makeup and Hair Styling is such a personal service request. It is very important for a stylist to see the client, evaluate and then consult based on the needs of the individual. If a physical meeting is not possible, by all means a picture would suffice. For example, if a client wants to have an updo for an event, but the stylist has no idea of the texture, length or condition of the hair the stylist would have to be a magician to guess what her needs are or the task at hand. Visuals are always so important for us. It's a tool that we use to establish time of service, complexity of style and other aspects. So... next time you ask for a quote, if a meeting isn't possible, send a picture so we can get an idea of what you like and how we can accomplish it.
