For any recording musician it is vitally important that the engineers they record with not only have adequate equipment, but also the passion and know-how. Therefore, make sure that you are comfortable with the personalities and work styles of your recording engineers and that you feel free to share ideas and work openly with them. Top-of-the-line equipment and audio skill alone will not take your project very far if the musicians and engineers are not communicating on the same page and having a great time.
