My 12-year-old daughter had been wanting a guitar for a while, so I got her one for her birthday. After a couple days of watching online videos about how to play, she seemed to lose interest. I guess it was too complicated, or boring, for her. I decided to try to find her a teacher, which is how Brian became my daughters guitar teacher. This has turned out to be the best decision.
Brians teaching techniques are excellent. He knew right away how to keep my daughter interested in playing, without her getting bored. From the very beginning he started teaching her to play her favorite song. That made a big difference in my daughters motivation to practice. To my great surprise, she started to practice on her own at least one hour every day.
Brian integrates guitar playing techniques (which can get boring) with playing songs, both at the same time. I think this is an excellent approach, especially for kids. My daughter now looks forward to every lesson. Communication with Brian is wonderful: he is never late, and if something does come up, he always notifies me well in advance. Lessons normally last 30 minutes, but if Brian sees that my daughter needs a little more time, he always stays longer to make sure that she understood everything in the lesson for that day.
