Great Service, owner Tom listened to what I wanted worked within my budget and had an affordable solution for my landscaping design. Prompt service, job completed the day after I hired them, would recommend them to anyone looking for professional company, respectful employees and most importantly affordable landscaping needs. Big or small jobs, they are equipped to handle both with ease. Left work site clean, something that you do not always get with contractors! Hire them again in a heartbeat!

Zach and his team were, overall, fantastic. Professional and personable from the quote through all of the (inevitable) hiccups, through the end. It's not often that I trust contractors (no offense - just have been burned in the past). I have never felt so comfortable with an owner and his team. We got quotes from several folks and Zach had a professional .pdf document in my e-mail the same night he came for the estimate. He actually got this project completed before some other contractors provided their quotes! If you're busy like we are and you just want someone who has the contacts, equipment and expertise to "get it done" - don't go anywhere else.

I worked with this contractor for concrete repair and can not say enough great things about the experience. He was the first contractor to take the time to schedule a free consultation for my project right away. From the onset he was professional and took time to explain what the process would be in detail. The job was completed ahead of schedule and the contractor made sure to keep me informed as to the progress of the job throughout the day and provided picture during and after for my approve of the finished project. Please consider hiring this company. I assure you that you will be well pleased with the quality of his work.

Tom completed a shed pad and patio step for me. All I can say is that I’m 100% satisfied not only with the quality of work that was done but also his price was fair. Tom takes the time to explain what exactly he is doing and why. Tom doesn’t bang out jobs to get the all mighty dollar. He takes his time to ensure the job is done correctly and to the customers satisfaction. I have already referred Tom to friends and I am going to get additional work done myself. Good contractors are hard to find and anyone who hires Tom will get a positive outcome. Thanks Tom

Great work ethic and very professional attitude. Onsite estimate and final proposal were done in a timely fashion. Work was completed quickly and they left no trace or mess after they were done (aside from, ya know, the actual work that was done!) Our yard looks great and we will definitely use them again for future landscaping projects!

Previous contractor (not from Thumbtack) cheated us with poor quality work and did not finish the job. Cody came and repaired as much as possible, explaining what could and could not be done, and coming back a second time for some further repairs and touch-up (his idea). I would not hesitate to recommend him to friends.

I had cement steps installed improperly by a previous contractor which allowed water to pour into my basement whenever it rained. Steve came out and took apart the whole mess and re-did it correctly. After years of not having this problem corrected properly by others, he did a great job and I no longer have the water problem. Nice person, showed up when he said he would, had to do more than originally thought and gave me a fair price. Would definitely recommend.

I will call him again. This young guy understands customer service. He was immediate in responding with an estimate based on my measurements. Bid was modified slightly after site visit. We set an appt; he arrived when he said he would. Not the lowest bid; not the highest. Job depended on weather window. He stayed in touch and showed up with 3 helpers. My 175' driveway is in pretty good shape, a couple cracks related to tree roots, some crazing. Needed coating, not so much repair. Cracks were cleaned and prepped. Sealcoat meticulously applied carefully around cement curbs and brick pavers. We got rain within 24 hrs. It looked like in some areas sealcoat was thin, some crazing cracks appeared to be porous allowing water in. After a couple of days of curing I reached out to him to come by and take a look. He was back as soon as weather allowed. I asked for a few areas to be touched up. He preferred to spread a second coat "to keep that uniform, beautiful appearance". And he did just that all the while expressing he just wants his customers to be happy with the job! I am very much a do-it-yourself-er who's aging past that point. With Joe, I feel like I've found a guy who approached this job as I would if I were doing it myself. His sealcoating business is an offshoot of a family run enterprise. I like that he's relatively local and exceptionally responsive. A customer always hopes for perfection. When outcome is not quite that, it's how the problem is handled that provides the true measure of the contractor. I'm giving him 5stars and look forward to having him now as my go-to guy for sealcoating!

Slainte landscape design was the most professional landscaping company I've ever dealt with. They did an outstanding job on an outdoor kitchen, fireplace, and sitting area out of brick, stone, and granite for us at our home. They were very reasonable with price and delievered the best craftsmanship imagineable. They were done faster than the scheduled timetable. Highly recommend to anyone and everyone in the market for any type of landscaping services!

Steven and Jay were fair, gave me a good deal, moved my furniture carefully, were very efficient, and were pleasant to work with. The only issue that came up is that they arrived quite late. To me, their price was worth the wait.

We had a massively over grown yard in the middle of the spring cleanup season. The automated emails for responses on quotes became a bit redundant but that did not in the least take away from the work this team did, in the middle of a vacation myself and the initial person I talked to went on a vacation, the team still managed to get the work done in a super efficient manner. More importantly they had ample opportunity to upsell and take me for a bit of money by doing a half way job on particularly some reseeding. Instead they advised me against paying them extra to do a job that wouldn’t have been right, they thought of ME instead of THEIR wallet, that says a lot these days. Great job guys and good luck.

I am a licensed real estate professional and have been a Realtor for over 10 years. I own numerous rental properties and I have worked with nearly over 100 contractors. I would put Steve at the very top of the tile category. Steve went above and beyond not only my expectations but his very own expectations. He came back twice to ensure that my shower enclosure was flawless. He didn't just slap some mortar and grout like most. He meticulously crafted this masterpiece. For those reading this, remember tile can drive you crazy if you have an uneven floor or wall. Don't have an uneven floor or wall. Use Steve.

So far, Chris have been on point. He does things he said he will. Responds quickly to my text/emails. He even worked on Father's Day just to send me a draft drawing because he said so. First contractor that I've met/spoken to that is not all talk only. We are still in the design stage but I will update my review once project is finished.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a landscape contractor do?

Landscape contractors work from outdoor architectural or design plans to build and install hardscaping or softscaping for the client, much as a general contractor uses architectural designs to build a house. Landscape contractors are experts in soil drainage, grading, hardscaping (installing concrete paths and retaining wall, building ponds, etc.), and planting. They have heavy equipment such as excavators and tractors to prepare the land as needed.

Some landscape contractors are also landscape architects or landscape designers. The titles can be compared with those in home construction: A building or landscape architect must earn a specialized architecture degree and pass an exam to have a license. A designer — whether an interior designer or a landscape designer — does not usually require a license to work. Landscape contractors are not required by law to work from plans designed by a landscape architect, so you may work directly with the landscape contractor to specify the work you’d like done. The national average cost for large-scale landscaping projects is $10,160. Pricing can vary greatly depending on the project scope, materials and design.

How do you find a good landscape architect?

Hiring a landscape architect is an investment in your home. Landscaping can reduce water bills, improve your home resale value, add to your daily living experience and significantly boost curb appeal. A landscape architect will draw the designs for your new landscape; you’ll want to hire a landscape contractor to carry out the plans. Many companies provide design-build landscaping services, with a company architect creating plans for your vision and the landscape contractor executing the vision. With the proper academic background and licensing, a person can be both landscape architect and landscape contractor. Here are a few tips for finding a great landscape architect:

    • Research online portfolios and find several landscape architects whose work interests you.
    • Read online reviews of client experiences.
    • Research whether the landscape architects you are interested in are currently licensed and in good standing with the licensing board, and check whether any complaints have been issued against them. Each state will have their own searchable database. For example, you can search for California landscape architects via the state’s Department of Consumer Affairs.
    • Request bids from your selected landscape architects.
    • Hire the one you like the most, taking care to have a clearly written contract outlining scope of work.

What should you look for when hiring a landscaper?

Landscaping can be costly — though it usually pays off in curb appeal and home resale value — so finding a landscaper who is worth the investment is important. When hiring a landscaper, look for proven success with the type of results you want. For example, if you know you want a drought-tolerant yard, research websites, reviews and portfolios that showcase beautiful drought-tolerant yards that the landscaper has installed. In addition to relevant experience, you’ll want to find a landscape contractor who has good client reviews. Good communication skills are another important quality in a landscape contractor, since everything from plant selection to hardscape installation needs to be discussed and agreed upon. A landscape contractor who is reliable, easy to understand and able to listen to what you want will help make the process seamless and enjoyable.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
