As young newlyweds that had been married for less than a year I honestly felt like my marriage was on the rocks during a time that I thought would be the most joyous and passionately loving part. We werenât as inseparable as I thought we would be or dreamed we would be. I didnât know what to do or who to go to seeing as we had just recently moved to Michigan. I surfed the web and came across this thumbtack website and waited to see which professionals I heard back from. Ken was the first and only to respond and as I read up on his profile and website I was very impressed with his background and expertise. I was drawn to the fact that he had been a minister because it meant a lot to myself and my husband to have that spiritual aspect as well. I had never done anything like this and really didnât know what all to expect. I remember thinking that Ken was going to be providing us with all the answers to fix our marriage. But Ken helped us in ways that we didnât even expect to be helped and with problems we didnât even realize that we had. It was great! He didnât give us the answers he gave us something better which was the tools we needed to realize what the situation was and how to work it out. We became educated on how our personal experiences affected our views on marriage and how it should or shouldnât be. Turns out we didnât have as many problems as we thought we did but we grew stronger and closer because of our sessions with Ken and we still use a lot of the things we learned. I felt like I experienced growth in my marriage but also personal growth and development as he recommended great books for me to read for my particular situation. As I felt myself getting very comfortable going to sessions and excited about that time my husband and I were using to invest/sow into our marriage I appreciated the fact that Ken let us know when he felt that we no longer were in need of sessions. He didnât drag the process out or keep us coming to sessions just for our money and even though a part of me didnât want things to end because I had gotten comfortable I realized that he was right. We saw Ken for a very effective 3 months that ultimately changed the course of our marriage. We really connected with Ken and almost basically felt like he was that close friend or family member that we could talk to. He just really made us feel comfortable and we were able to open up to him honestly about everything and if we were to ever need any help at all ever again we would go back to him- no doubt. I recommend him to any and every one 100%.
We could not have asked for a better experience while counseling with Jeff. My husband & I had individual sessions as well as joint sessions with Jeff. He is insightful, honest, & has integrity. He has helped us heal wounds from our past & present. He also has helped equip us with the necessary tools to break cycles which were destructive to ourselves & the ones we love. Jeff has many resource tools that are available to help each individual for their specific situation. Our marriage is healed & healthy. But most important are these what we call "life tools" that we have been given to help us for the future trials in life that we know we will face. Thank you Jeff. Bob & Dawn
I have been working with Cat over the years and she has been an instrumental part of my development. She had taken the time to listen to me every time and provide me with amazing advice that was custom tailored to my needs and situations. She empathized with me and helped me achieve better and more balanced interpersonal relationships, improved my marriage, develop self awareness, build up my confidence and adopt a better outlook on life. I feel that I could not have become the person I am today without her guidance. I recommend her to anyone who is struggling with any issues, she is phenomenal.
Karen, really asked the right questions in session. It helped me gain perspective and to know what I truly wanted for my marriage.
While working with Ms. Archibald at Detroit Behavioral Institute, I first noticed and was very pleased with her attentiveness, communication with staff and compassion for those she serviced. Working with children who come from various, yet similar, backgrounds and being able to bridge the gap of understanding was and is what makes Ms. Archibald a great counselor but not just the youth but also anyone who may be in need. No matter how exhausting the work may be, Ms. Archibald continues to improve her quality of work to better the quality of life for others beside herself. Selfless, persevering and having a timely attitude is only a brief look into the remarkable characteristics she posses.
This was my husband and I first time seeing a counselor and Cynthia made us feel very comfortable our first session went very well. We'll be seeing her again very soon.
Ursula is an amazing counselor. She really listens and asks you the right questions to help you figure things out yourself. She knows that happiness comes in many different shapes and sizes. If you are struggling with your place in the world and are looking for someone to guide you to you, Ursula is the right counselor/coach!
My husband was apprehensive about seeing a counselor who is a woman for fear she'd be bias, but he was pleasantly surprised and comfortable talking to Melva about issues in our marriage. I felt Melva was supportive to both of us, gave us homework that actually helped, and taught us how to communicate better. Not only would I recommend her, I have recommended her many times.
Steve has made a great impact on my marriage thus far. I don't know what we would have done without him. He is very relatable & knowledgeable. I look forward to seeing what else he can help us accomplish. We have not only rekindled our love for one another but have restored our friendship. Thanks Steve!
Felix provided counseling to my husband helping him and us deal with his compulsive sexual disorder. He was able to pretty quickly determine that the issue was due to events that had occurred to him as a child. The process of working with each of us individually, working with us as a couple and providing a men's group for my husband to attend made all the difference. I can say definitively that without Felix and his techniques, mannerism and approach we would not be celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary. He truly worked with us to help save our marriage and I cannot recommend him highly enough.

My work seems to be an extension of who I am rather than a thing that I do. That is, I experience being with someone in a helpful manner, as a natural part of me. From my clients' perspectives, I am told that I am not like any other therapist they have known, in that they feel my interest and care for them is genuine and not just a professional courtesy.

I'm a licensed elder. I have done marriage and family counseling for the past eight years. I understand that there are many different and complex things that happen in a marriage. I have been with my wife for 20 years, and we counsel together. Our goal is to save marriages. We also understand that people change and things happen in marriages that you just can't talk about to anyone. That's when counseling and different marriage exercise are needed to help couples move forward and find those missing pieces that seem to have been lost.
