My 10 year old daughter has studied piano under Mr. John Derrickson at Miami Valley Music Instruction for over three years, and the growth has been remarkable. Gage M. says, "I started lessons with Harrison in the beginning of 2024, there has not been one time that I have been disappointed with lessons or the time I’ve spent with him. He is very thorough with everything he teaches. The very first thing he taught me was how to play by ear and I think that was the best thing he could’ve taught me before starting my journey. It has helped in everything else I wanted to learn since then. He also has a very strong way of teaching chords/composition of music. He’s able to describe what he wants you to know in a way that is easy to understand. If you have a goal he will get you there, every time I think of something new I want to learn he figures out how to work it into your long term goals. I went to him with one very broad goal (I just wanted to be able to sit and play the piano wether it was in my room or in a mall with a hundred people watching me) and even in the short amount of time I’ve been practicing with him, I’m 100% more confident in my playing and I couldn’t be happier with the progress I’ve made with him teaching me.
