I started working with Alicia about two years ago when she was working for the health club I belong to. Because I go to school out of state, she helped me create nutrition and workout plans that I could take to school and follow on my own. She tailored everything to my goals and interests and always asked for honest feedback from me to make sure that my schedule and lifestyle could easily accommodate the meal plans and workouts. One thing that really stands out to me is her genuine care for me as a person. I have rarely been able to come home to check in with her, and yet she still texts me from time to time to see how I am doing and if I need anything from her. Feeling remembered and cared for goes a long way when going through the process of trying to improve your health and fitness, and experiencing this from Alicia certainly helped keep me motivated. I have made great progress, and I feel like myself again - healthy and fit. I owe a lot of that to Alicia and the constant support and encouragement she provides for her clients.
Craig was a positive influence in my life as a Counselor.
Ginny Mackles is an amazing practitioner of both mental health and techniques to promote health and wellness. Ginny has a unique style of integrating mindfulness practices such as Reiki and meditation into her counseling sessions. Ginny's gentle and straightforward approach to helping you superseded my expectations. Ginny helped me identify goals, plan strategies and stay accountable to taking action steps toward achieving my goals. This not only helped me improve my mental health, increase my efforts at personal development, but changed my way of viewing my physical health and spiritual well being. As a student in one of her Reiki Training classes I learned not only how to practices this healing technique on myself but also how to practice and teach it to others. I highly recommend her as a teach/mentor/therapist.
Kelly (In Tandem Counseling, Inc.) has a passion for helping people, and her skills, knowledge, and experience make her an expert in the field. She is not only a very talented therapist, but also a wonderful person. Kelly does a great job of easily building a therapeutic relationship and holding a safe, nonjudgmental space for you to work through any mental health issues or difficult life situations you may be dealing with.
Bennett and I worked together at South Metro Human Services for approximately a year and a half. I believe Bennett excelled at working with clients who experienced psychosis, negative symptoms of schizophrenia, and, especially, cluster B personality disorders. He consistently made clients feel heard and supported. Bennett also demonstrated skill in engaging clients in conversations that facilitated self-advocacy with external providers, and, when clients faced barriers to advocating for themselves, Bennett stepped in to make sure their concerns were addressed. As a co-worker, Bennett was an incredible support and ally. As one of the few female employees on our team, I struggled a great deal with the experience of implicit and accidental sexism. I also came to this position fairly early in my recovery from my own experiences with depression and suicidal ideation and an eating disorder. Bennett was an amazing partner in this-- he validated my frustrations, problem-solved difficulties, called out other colleagues, and overall made going to work a happy and hopeful experience. I cannot recommend Bennett Jones highly enough. As a co-worker in the mental health field, and as a friend and support person who filled a puedo-therapist role in my daily life, Bennett is a deeply compassionate and remarkably gifted listener, and working with him has enriched my life in ways I am still discovering, months after our working relationship has ended.
Kelly was a tremendous help to my family. Our daughter was denied in patient treatment for bipolar disorder and we had to file a mental health parity complaint against our insurance company. She is very knowledable having filed her own complaint in the past. She handled the process for us with ease and provided us with much needed support.
Brian has a consistent positive attitude and helps focus our conversations on what's working in my efforts to confront mental health challenges. What's more, his sliding scale makes it easy for me to invest in my mental health.
