Nick was punctual, professional, and gave me abetted price than three other painters I received bids on. The results are fantastic and he did more than I asked him to do. I will continue to use his services and would reccomend him to anyone.

I hired Aaron to paint a couple of popcorn ceilings. I tried painting the ceilings on my own, but realized I needed a professional painter. Aaron painted both ceilings (one room was large) in three hours and his work looks fantastic. I'm very satisfied with the finished work. Aaron was professional, worked hard, and paid attention to detail. He answered my questions and shared some painting tips. He is a man of integrity who cares about the quality of his work and having satisfied customers. I will not hesitate to call Aaron for future painting needs.

Kayla is a great person. She has a great personality and is very friendly. We enjoyed having Kayla in our home. Kayla did a wonderful job painting trim, doors and vanity for us. She was able to get the smooth white look we were hoping for on the cabinets and doors. She took many extra steps to make sure this was the case. Her prices are very reasonable and she worked within our budget. I would definitely hire Kayla again for other painting projects in our home. We hired Kayla to paint the trim on a room that we are also going to paint the walls on later so Kayla was able to be a little less detailed on getting paint on the walls. The house was picked up and put back together when she finished the project. There are little imperfections that we have found that are to be expected. They are little things we can touch up but I know if we wanted Kayla to touch them up, she would come back and take care of it. Overall, we are very happy with the look of our rooms.

I had my interior trim and doors installed and painted. I had started the process a couple years ago, but was having difficulty finishing the project with 3 young boys and all there activities. I hired Adventure 25 to come out and give a bid and they could start the project in about a week. The first part of the process was to finish the trim work and rip all the basement trim out and a couple of doors that had not been replaced yet. The trim work was done in a couple of days. The painting was delayed because of rainy weather. This is where the stress begins. The prep work that comes before painting can be a lot of work and time consuming. There was little to no prep of the trim. Lots of missed nail holes, lots of missed caulking and the stuff that was done was very poor. I was told that this is high quality paint and it will cover in one coat. I know better. It can take several coats to make the white trim look good. There was paint all over the wood floors, tile in kitchen, paint on the cabinets, paint on my trees outside, paint on the concrete driveway, paint on my fire pit. There seemed to be no care in the world. Jaimie kept telling me that we are not painters. I understand that but my 5 year could of done better. It was supposed to be rolled and instead there was pain brush marks all the trim. The one painter said he thought it would look cute to but swirls with his brush on the top of all the door trims. I met with Jaimie 4 different times to which he said how do I make this right? I would go through things with him and come home at the end of the day to find more of a mess and continued poor quality work. I have never seen anything like this. He would say it would be fixed but I don't think he would watch over his workers and forget to tell them things. I am stressed out beyond believe as my hope was to have this finished to spend more time with my kids. Instead I have to redo most of it. I had another contractor come out and told me it would be about 10 thousand to fix. He never had seen such poor quality work. I would not recommend him to my worst enemy. Very nice person but I think he was over his head and always in a rush, hence the poor quality work. Since I cant pay 10 thousand to someone to fix it, I am now looking at a year or so to fix my trim. Very frustrated and angry customer.

Alex was timely, worked efficiently, and we could tell he took great pride in his work and it showed! Alex's quote was accurate and he went above and beyond while at our home. We will have him back for more painting in the near future. Look no further... Alex is the best painter around!

Jon and his crew came out and got a two-day job done in one that looks impeccable! His price was very competitive and he didn't bat an eye at cleaning up issues we didn't see when he quoted the job for no extra charge. It was obvious that making sure the customer was happy with the experience was priority #1. I will be hiring from these guys again the next time I have a some painting work.

We had a very difficult wall repair project where the wall paper came off so horrible that all the walls needed to be skim coated. Above All gave a prompt estimate and kept after the project until we all were satisfied with the outcome. He had very hard working painters and they all had great attitudes. They really stood behind their work.

I interviewed about 7 painters prior to hiring John. I was most impressed with John's quote (price), his punctuality, being reliable and his work quality. He did a FABULOUS job on painting my living room, kitchen and family room. He is my #1 painter to go to, you won't be disappointed. He does excellent work.

I am so happy that the painter I hired cancelled twice for painting my bedroom. I was lucky enough to find Pablo on Thumbtack and he was immediately responsive to my email and contacted me back in ten minutes. A few hours later he was at my house and 3 days later I had my bedroom painted. He was on time, professional and did a wonderful job of taping off my woodwork and making sure that all the woodwork and ceiling were untouched. My room looks wonderful and he was very competitive with my bids. Thank you for not only meeting but exceeding my expectations. You will be the only painter I use!

Had a drywall repair job after grass cloth wall paper was removed that the painters we had hired felt was too difficult for them to repair. Jeff did a wonderful job. He responded quickly to our request for help, gave us a good price and finished the work efficiently and cleaned up. The results were great. The painters can come back and finish up now! Will highly recommend Dave Construction to family and friends in the future!

Excellent workmanship and overall experience. Shawn is a true craftsman. He is not only a talented painter but a real perfectionist. He makes sure ever detail is prepped and addressed before beginning to paint. He actually smoothed trim gaps so woodwork flaws were barely noticeable, once painted. Shawn is punctual, trustworthy, and a real pleasure to work with. I will definitely hire Shawn again.

We had interviewed several painters before deciding to go with Protect Painters. One of the main reasons we chose them was Janet. She was willing to sit down with us to create a room with just the right colors to reflect the mood we wanted. And she didn't charge us $175 to tell us which colors to paint! Every time we were to meet with Del & Janet the meetings were exactly on time. The meetings were productive and items were resolved at each one. The day the actual painting took place Del came, introduced his men, and instructed them what to do. He later returned to make sure the work was excellent. The whole project, as big as it was, got done in a single day which really meant a lot as my life is so busy! They were able to repair all the damages on my walls and now it looks like I live in a totally brand new house! Excellent job!

Having just relocated to the Minneapolis area my husband and I were looking for painters for our new home. This was the first time we tried thumbtack and I have to say we are extremely impressed by Blue Painting. I first communicated with Max, one of the co-owners who came out to do a tour and discuss what we wanted done. We had several bids however Max had the best price for the quality and overall he gave the best impression when we first met him. After talking with him I really felt like our home would be in good hands and I can say with confidence it was! His painting crew was professional, friendly, courteous and did such an amazing job on the house. The paint has really transformed it - everything was done such precision and they took a lot of time and care in cleaning up afterwards. Without any hesitation I would highly recommend using Blue Painting for any of your needs, wether it be interior or exterior. This is a good honest company and one that I fully support. Thanks for helping make our house so lovely.

Great experience with Wilson. He came to see the walls before he quoted the job. He gave a reasonable estimate and predicted the right amount of paint. He did the work on a Saturday so I didn't need to take time off work. He did a great job, and got it done within around 6 hours. Other painters quoted as much as 3 days. I'm very happy with his work. And he was really responsive and pleasant to work with. I intend to refer him to family and friends.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
