You should definitely use Southern Minnesota Irrigation!!!!!!!!! The owner Kurt was able to fit me into his schedule the next day even though we live in eden prairie. He was very knowledgeable about our 1992 irrigation system. He fixed the problem which took 4 hours and gave me updates along the way. He also helped to prevent future issues we could have had. I felt the pricing was more than fair. There is not a single thing to complain about :)

Dee and her crew did an amazing job. Her knowledge and expertise surpassed my expectations and we just love our new landscaping. I only had a general idea of what we wanted done. Dee made great suggestions, recommendations, solutions, and just all-around knows EVERYTHING about landscaping. The project was finished ahead of when we were originally scheduled and they even came back a second time to adjust a few irrigation heads that needed to be moved to coincide with the landscape design. We are looking forward to next Spring/Summer to complete phase 2 of our landscaping with Landscape Gal.

B&B Pro Landscaping did an outstanding job! They removed our old sod, installed new sod throughout the full yard. They added details of pulling up our flower bed liners, cut out holes for our irrigation system, and even repaired a leak in our irrigation piping. We will definitely use B&B again. I would highly recommend B&B for any of your landscaping/lawn care needs!

He fit us in last minute the day I contacted him to come setup our sprinkler system. He took extra time to make sure everything was setup properly and tested it to make sure it worked properly before he left our condo building.

Ron was very knowledgeable on what he thought I needed, and he was right. Showed up when he said he would and got the job done when he said it would be done. Went through the complete system with me and show me how to program it and adjust heads as needed. Would definitely recommend him to people that are interested in a irrigation sprinkler system.

David's work quality, professionalism, and responsiveness was above and beyond my expectations. I have never used an irrigation system before, so I was a little nervous about everything. David was available to perform the job within two days of initial contact, was considerate of my schedule, and arrived early to the appointment. He was very knowledgeable as he thoroughly checked my entire system, dug up and re-positioned three sprinkler heads, replaced one, and was able to find sprinkler heads that had been landscaped over. He provided valuable suggestions throughout the appointment and taught me everything I needed to know about owning, using, and maintaining my system to the point where I felt extremely comfortable. He provided me parts at a great price and the value of his work exceeded my expectations. I am so appreciative of the work he performed and will definitely hire him again in the future. I highly recommend David. Thank you again!

Jeremy did great work on our landscaping. We had lots of weeds and the plants that were alive were overgrown and awful looking. Jeremy cleaned it all up, layed out fresh rock and planted new shrubs. The curb appeal he added will help tremendously when we list our house this month, I just wish we had done it sooner!

I am a general contractor and was in need of some help with a basement remodel, I contacted Mike regarding the need for an installed drain tile system. He met with me on short notice and gave me a competitive quote for the labor. He and his crew showed up on time and took care of business. He was respectful of the client and their home and left them feeling satisfied with my choice in Wells Bros. I will be using them again as my go-to landscaping company. -Steve Weestrand - Avenue Homes, LLC

We have had an excellent experience with Ben and the Green Oasis team! Bens design work was excellent! He listened to what we wanted on our landscape project and tweaked the design several times. The project included concrete and stone, irrigation system, several new planting beds and a total redesign of the front of our home. The project started and finished on time! The crew was professional, experienced and hard working! Follow up was continuos throughout the project with visits and phone calls. We were so pleased with the quality that we used Green Oasis to power wash our homes exterior and wash all windows inside and out, and have set up a lawn maintenance program. Each crew and individual have been professional, knowledgeable and skilled at what they do!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a landscape contractor do?

Landscape contractors work from outdoor architectural or design plans to build and install hardscaping or softscaping for the client, much as a general contractor uses architectural designs to build a house. Landscape contractors are experts in soil drainage, grading, hardscaping (installing concrete paths and retaining wall, building ponds, etc.), and planting. They have heavy equipment such as excavators and tractors to prepare the land as needed.

Some landscape contractors are also landscape architects or landscape designers. The titles can be compared with those in home construction: A building or landscape architect must earn a specialized architecture degree and pass an exam to have a license. A designer — whether an interior designer or a landscape designer — does not usually require a license to work. Landscape contractors are not required by law to work from plans designed by a landscape architect, so you may work directly with the landscape contractor to specify the work you’d like done. The national average cost for large-scale landscaping projects is $10,160. Pricing can vary greatly depending on the project scope, materials and design.

How do you find a good landscape architect?

Hiring a landscape architect is an investment in your home. Landscaping can reduce water bills, improve your home resale value, add to your daily living experience and significantly boost curb appeal. A landscape architect will draw the designs for your new landscape; you’ll want to hire a landscape contractor to carry out the plans. Many companies provide design-build landscaping services, with a company architect creating plans for your vision and the landscape contractor executing the vision. With the proper academic background and licensing, a person can be both landscape architect and landscape contractor. Here are a few tips for finding a great landscape architect:

    • Research online portfolios and find several landscape architects whose work interests you.
    • Read online reviews of client experiences.
    • Research whether the landscape architects you are interested in are currently licensed and in good standing with the licensing board, and check whether any complaints have been issued against them. Each state will have their own searchable database. For example, you can search for California landscape architects via the state’s Department of Consumer Affairs.
    • Request bids from your selected landscape architects.
    • Hire the one you like the most, taking care to have a clearly written contract outlining scope of work.

What should you look for when hiring a landscaper?

Landscaping can be costly — though it usually pays off in curb appeal and home resale value — so finding a landscaper who is worth the investment is important. When hiring a landscaper, look for proven success with the type of results you want. For example, if you know you want a drought-tolerant yard, research websites, reviews and portfolios that showcase beautiful drought-tolerant yards that the landscaper has installed. In addition to relevant experience, you’ll want to find a landscape contractor who has good client reviews. Good communication skills are another important quality in a landscape contractor, since everything from plant selection to hardscape installation needs to be discussed and agreed upon. A landscape contractor who is reliable, easy to understand and able to listen to what you want will help make the process seamless and enjoyable.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
