FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We do have a somewhat complicated pricing system. It's not like purchasing the 'service' of an oil change. Each piece of furniture or trim or job is different. Consideration must be given to the prior finish, the condition of the piece and what must be done to repair or preserve it. Without looking at it - and we will do on-site estimates so you don't have to haul the piece to us for an estimate - we really cannot tell you how much it will cost. There can always be some negotiation as well depending on what the customer wants done.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
There are always trade magazines and supplier catalogues touting the latest and newest in chemicals, tooling and techniques. We read and consider and try things out and use what works best for each and every individual piece of work.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Chair repair is the most common job. All forms of chairs from recliners to the kitchen chair. We had an oak pressed back chair come through here awhile back. (There were thousands of them made and many, many variations of patterns.) One leg was completely off and several rails were splintered. It would take several hours to repair. Understandably, the customer did not want to invest that much into a repair. By some fluke of luck, we were visiting a second hand mall and found two of the EXACT chairs, in good condition, for about half of what it would take to fix the one. We passed that information along to the customer and they are very happy with two more chairs now!
