Christy Seal CDT, ABCDT, Pet Dietitian, Author

    (42 reviews)

My Best Buddy & Christy Seal has 14 years of experience training dogs and their families. Christy Seal has personally handled and trained over 4 thousand dogs in animal shelters and has worked with just as many families to build unstoppable bonds and reliable commands. I love seeing the dogs make big turn arounds and the owners gaining new confidence in their dogs. Whether that be because the dog just has poor manners, lacks social skills or has full blown aggression, seeing the training process take hold, the dogs learning how to behave and owners seeing their dogs in a whole new light is so unbelievable rewarding. Watching a good house pet turn into a great competitor, especially when the owners never thought it was possible; there are not words to explain how fulfilling this work can be!

Sully's Dog Training. Private/behavioral/group/will travel to you

    (19 reviews)

Sully's Dog Training. I am your personalized dog trainer. I cater to each persons personal life style and what they want or need from their dog. I am a certified canine trainer. Trained by Allen Sandstone Dog Training in California. CA PDO #158. I do not train by using food to motivate your dog. I train through motivation, respect and a little correction if needed. I am not against using treats but I save treats for the dogs that truly need some extra help. Fearful, damaged spirits or untrusting canines sometimes require treat training.. All dogs get a treat at the end of class simply because they have worked hard and deserve a hug and treat. I never run people through classes or run out of time to help them. My work is very rewarding. I get to help people with their best furry friends. I get to give them a dog they can take any where and spend a wonderful life and friendship with. No one travels through life alone when they have their dog by their side.

  • Rescue Me Dogz- serving St Louis, St Charles and Illinois

    (59 reviews)

As an animal behaviorist, I realize that some behaviors are only symptoms of another issue...often ones that the owners have not even realized. During the first meet n greet we will go over a 150 point evaluation to see where the issue may be, and also to see what behaviors of the owner or pet needs to be addressed. Seeing people realize what awesome dogs they have always had! Also for many dogs that come from working breeds, to see them have a 'job' to do, from a simple game of find and seek; to learning to traverse an agility ring or compete in obedience trials--to see their true character come out to play is AWESOME.

Our philosophy for dog obedience is simple- build a foundation and have fun with your dog! We only use humane and effective methods that have been proven to work. We have trained over a thousand dogs in the St. Louis and Illinois area. We are highly recommended by clients, veterinarians, and others in the industry. We spend the time with you upfront in a free evaluation to make sure training with us is a good fit. Due to our ability to understand dogs and drive results, we have built successful boarding and day care programs to complement our training. We utilize a variety of proven training techniques. Not all dogs respond to a single method of training so we don't rely on one method. Our goal is to help you achieve your training goals while making it fun and educational for you. If you and your dog are having a good time learning, the better the results! Our promise to all of our training clients is to work with you until you are satisfied with your dog’s progress. Our techniques incorporate all facets of learning theory, the most important being operant conditioning and positive reinforcement. We teach using motivational and reward based methods. We feel that dogs, like humans, learn through consequence- whether it be positive or negative, but that if you spend the time teaching and rewarding positive behaviors, negative consequences can be greatly reduced or eliminated. Most importantly, we believe if you teach dogs desired behaviors, dogs will respond to verbal cues and correct behaviors on their own! We believe that using motivational techniques, you can build a wonderful relationship with your dog. PROVEN METHODS FOR TRAINING A DOG Our programs are designed with your success in mind, from private lessons, to group classes, puppy training, and in kennel training- we offer it all! In addition, we give training clients access to our online resource center which has videos, course outlines, tips, and "Ask the trainer" that will help you solve any of your training issues. Our personal training dogs are our pets, and most of them are rescues or surrenders. We have dealt with the same types of pet struggles, from basic obedience to aggression, that may have affected you. We understand how difficult it can be managing your life and your dog that just wont listen! We genuinely want to help you and your pet because too many times we see what the sad alternatives are. Our founder, Shannon Mayfield, went through several trainers and behaviorists that did a better job selling her a training package than actually training. After adopting a rescue dog with severe aggression issues, she sought professional help. She met with three clicker trainers, two prong collar trainers and one remote collar trainer. She quickly realized most dog trainers didn't understand dog behavior and learning, but instead pushed one method because it was all they knew. She found herself extremely disappointed in the dog training available which motivated her to seek out as much knowledge as possible. She continued working with her dogs privately and eventually pursued dog training as her career. She has traveled all over the country to further her education through formal schooling, workshops, and seminars. She is versed in all training methods and has developed her skills by working with renowned pet and sport trainers. She has always been open to new ideas and methods dependent on individual situations. Her multifaceted approach has become the No Leash Needed standard for all our trainers. At No Leash Needed we love our jobs because we get to provide real world results for our clients. Having happy clients is what we love to do. Having the opportunity to teach dogs to be happy, well behaved members of your family is why we smile every day at No Leash Needed.

Thumbtack Spotlight

Christy Seal CDT, ABCDT, Pet Dietitian, Author

(42 reviews)

I have had many inspirations and a ton of support, but there are two things that really stick out in my mind for what inspired me to start my own business. The first would have to be my own dogs. I have been on one incredible journey with the dogs I share my life and passion with. They were all adopted/rescued, and all have had some massive behavioral challenge that I helped them overcome from aggression to separation anxiety to over exuberance, I have lived with it all.

Christy Seal is a certified dog trainer and is running her own Best Buddy Dog Training and K9 Sports. She provides top-quality dog training services to dog lovers from all backgrounds.

In order to keep my customers happy, I need to make sure the dog gets trained in a timely fashion. Dog training is a process and a long one at that. It is to be expected that having a well behaved dog is going to take time, but if the process takes too long or if the client can no longer handle a dangerous behavior (door dashing, aggression), then the process needs to be expedited, otherwise the owner may give up and the dog could be turned into a shelter.

Among her many success stories, Christy recalls that her favorite was helping a family who had a yellow lab mix, who had quite serious problems with the children. Christy worked with them and after a series of sessions, Christy was able to tone down the issues and soon after, the dog lived happily with the family.

Handle your K9 issues well by booking with Christy Seal.
