FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I start with a brief phone conversation where I introduce myself and the process. After this call, I send the couple a simple questionnaire for them to complete together at their convenience. This questionnaire helps to ensure that I am on the same page with the couple concerning expectations leading up to the ceremony and expectations for the big day itself. After this questionnaire is returned, I then set out to construct a wedding ceremony that fits what the couple is looking for. After I have finished a complete draft, I will send it to the couple for their approval.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelor's degree in Pastoral Ministry and a Masters of Divinity, both of which have given me training in public speaking, preaching, and both constructing and leading wedding ceremonies. Furthermore, I have several years of ministry experience and have conducted several weddings. I am comfortable in this setting and greatly enjoy it.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Make sure they are someone you are comfortable with. I have witnessed weddings where the ceremony was awkward because the officiant had not properly prepared the couple and they were uncomfortable with each other. As an officiant, I work hard to include the couple in the process of constructing and preparing the ceremony, while also striving to reduce the work and stress load on the couple leading up to the big day. My goal is for us all to go into the ceremony comfortable with one another and all having clear expectations about what will occur.
