Introduction: I was a manager at Cisco for 14 years, and for the past 10 years I've been a freelancer creating PowerPoint presentations for busy professionals so they can take more time for themselves. My specialty is streamlining complex content into simple messages and adding beautiful graphics to enhance understanding. Since I'm not a newbie, I have a huge portfolio on my website with examples of all kinds of documents. I'm happy to answer any questions. Flexible, smart, creative, easy to reach, polished results . . . with a sense of urgency you won't find anywhere else. I also am a writer and editor in addition to graphic designer, so you get the full package. :-) Thank you for considering me. Karen

Karen knows how to to quickly connect with the client, what is relevant, and what they need. She has a gift for simplifying the message, if needed. Karen's quick turn-around and her output (such as PPT or documents), is always professional. I have used Karen for multiple projects.

Karen was great at taking my jumbled thoughts and turning them into a nice looking deck. She picked perfect photos for each slide, and cut the words down to a manageable size. She also rearranged the content so it flowed better. Best way to describe Karen is she can take a thousand words and condense it to 5. Great job.

Its rare to find in one place a service communication company that can both get into the details & see the big picture, to have equal strengths in both design & content. All of which youll find @ Cary Communications. They are able to quickly grasp & articulate the needs of a client, sometimes without the client even knowing thats what is needed or thats what is missing or wow! this is so much better (& easier). With a wide & varied background, the CEO is nothing short of brilliant. Youll reap the benefits of any service she & her team provide quickly & turn to Cary Communications to help you in any communication effort in which you strive to be the best.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I'm flexible. Tell me your budget and I will let you know what that will cover. Small business budgets are quite different from corporate budgets. Many professionals can outsource a project and have the company pay for it, but they simply don't ask their manager if they can do it.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I have an introductory phone call to answer any questions and to understand how they prefer to work. I'll ask who the audience is for the project, the overall goals, and the action(s) they want to see as a result of the work. They send me any already-created materials as well as examples of designs they like (if they have them). I'll create a draft, get their feedback, and then adjust as needed.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I've worked with PowerPoint since 1988. I even edited books on the subject. I worked in computer book publishing for 10 years, so I have a good command of English grammar and spelling. (I hate typos.) I spent more than a decade working with senior Cisco execs on various presentations for different audiences, including all hands meetings, executive briefings, sales pitches, cheat sheets, etc. I know what different audiences want to see and I know how to tie the slides together to tell a story that encourages people to take action.
