Luke L. says, "I had significant foundation issues for my house that I was looking to sale fairly quickly. Chase came to the site and quoted me within days of the request and they were able to get me worked in within days of quoting. Spencer showed up on time to complete the work and worked diligently to get everything done. In one room I asked him to keep going (trying to get it level as much as possible) and it ended up messing up some of the flooring. Completely my fault and my risk but Spencer let me know ahead of time and the risk so there is no fault to drypro. Highly recommend drypro for any foundation issues you have. My slab was off by 4 inches in some spots and there were able to stabilize my house."See more

Mohan N. says, "Exceptional Service from Start to Finish! From the initial inspection through project completion, this company exceeded all expectations. Their team was not only professional but also incredibly courteous and friendly. Special shout-out to Randal, who was outstanding throughout the entire process. The work involved installing drain lines and a sump pump in my basement to address a water leak. What impressed me most was their attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness. They completed the job efficiently and left the area spotless. The entire process was smooth - from scheduling to the actual project execution. Their expertise was evident, and they handled the job with skill and precision. I couldn’t be more satisfied with the results and would highly recommend them to anyone needing similar work done.”"See more

audrey Hollingworth says, "This is a very good company. All appointments were kept. An inspection of the crawl space was done. Taylor then discussed what should be done to prevent water from pooling in the craw space. He was polite, friendly and informative. It wasnt long after I agreed to have the work done that the crew came out. William, Josh and Luis dove into the job right away. William took time to answered my questions and further explained what they would be doing. They worked all day digging up the dirt, putting in the piping and hauling the gravel in a wheelbarrow from the driveway to the back of the house and into the crawl space. I was informed of the progress and the next steps that would be taken. They told me when they were testing the pump so I could watch. All three were polite and friendly, and professional. They finished the job leaving the area and crawl space clean. I was also supplied with pictures of the work done and how it would work. More importantly they assured me that if there were any issues the company would send someone out to correct itDry Otter company and the crew, William, Josh and Luis are the best I have come across in a long time.Thank you"See more

Vickie Price says, "This is our 2nd building that we have had Foundation Doctor structurally repair the crawlspace. This is also the 2nd time Auston & his crew Dylan & Zach have done a great job for us! In this farm house they had to remove a 4x8 beam flush girder in an area of the crawlspace that was only 18 inches high. Because of that, it literally had to be taken out notch by notch and piece by piece. We appreciate all their hard work! They also put a steel beam in the cellar to support the kitchen floors over it. Auston has been so good to give us daily updates & keep us informed regarding the daily repairs.Their supervisor, Rob was great to work with as well. We appreciated his expertise and attention to detail. Our first point of contact in these two projects was Michael. He has been so helpful explaining what needs to be replaced/repaired in our crawlspaces & has patiently & promptly answered all our questions. After 2 building repairs, we have nothing but good things to say regarding Foundation Doctor and highly recommend them!"See more

Robbie Anderson says, "58 foundations stand behind their work. I recently had my crawl space encapsulated with a sump pump and dehumidifier installed and 58 foundations did a wonderful job. It's been about 6 months and we noticed that the sump pump wasn't discharging anymore. I called for a service call and within 2 days service technician Steven O'Dell came out and found that the sump pump was burt out. He installed a new one the same day which was covered by the warranty and the service call was covered. Steven was very respectful, timely, and informative about what to pay attention to with our crawl space and when we need them to come out. Their service at 58 foundations go far beyond just the installation work, they guarantee everything and stand behind that guarantee."See more

FAQs

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is the best sealer to use on concrete?

Because unsealed concrete is porous, it readily absorbs liquids, leading to unsightly stains and freeze-and-thaw cycle damage. For this reason, it’s important to seal concrete that will see spills or outdoor weather.

The best option for garage floors and other high-traffic areas is epoxy, which forms a hard and extremely durable surface on top of concrete. Epoxy, acrylic, and polishes are often used on indoor floors, while acrylic-resin sealers and reactive penetrating sealers are used on outdoor surfaces to repel water and salt. Locate a concrete contractor in your area to help find the best solution.

Is it better to stain or paint concrete?

A concrete paint cover is typically opaque and covers up the color of the concrete. This means it provides significant protection to the concrete below. However, if it is improperly applied or subjected to heavy traffic, a painted concrete floor is likely to chip and peel.

Epoxy and staining are two types of concrete floor sealer. Epoxy is a more durable but often more expensive option than a concrete stain. Epoxy forms a protective layer, while concrete stain is more decorative and requires more maintenance. Because epoxy can be more expensive than concrete stain, it is best used in high-traffic areas or in applications where low maintenance is desired.

A concrete stain, on the other hand, is quick to apply and can show off the textures of the concrete, but it does not provide a high degree of protection for the concrete against spills, salt, water and other contaminants. Staining concrete generally requires a dust mop, a pH-neutral cleaner and water to clean, while epoxy can cause resin buildup that necessitates the use of special detergents.

Find a concrete contractor near you for help selecting the right floor concrete sealer.

What can concrete contractors do?

Concrete contractors can build foundations, structures, driveways, concrete storm drains, raise or level concrete patios and much more. They can handle every step of the process, starting with framing the mold that the concrete is poured into. They then cut, assemble and tie together the rebar, giving the concrete its tensile strength. Finally, they pour the concrete in, mixing and conditioning it to ensure it cures properly. They will also take steps to ensure that no air pockets are trapped within it.

If you have a project that requires the help of a concrete contractor, reach out to one today to get a price estimate.

What is the best finish for concrete floors?

The best finish for concrete floors depends on your personal taste. An acid stain is a bold, varied look with lots of texture and the potential for earthy tones and a natural stone appearance. A water-based stain might not last as long as an acid stain, but it gives you the choice of many different colors. Epoxy is great for high-traffic areas, kitchens, bathrooms, basements and garages. It provides a glossy, damage-resistant, non-slip coating on your concrete floors. To find out which finish is the best for your concrete floors, contact a concrete contractor near you.

How much does it cost to redo a concrete driveway?

Here are some examples of average costs:

  • The national average cost to hire a concrete specialist is $2,750, but that price can vary greatly depending on the work needed to repair and resurface your concrete driveway, the square footage of the project, current costs of concrete, and regional labor rates.
  • Driveway contractors average $2-$3 per square foot to smooth and resurface your asphalt driveway.
  • Resurfacing concrete driveways averages $3-$10 per square foot. Pricing can depend on repairs needed, project size and geographic location.
  • Nationally, the average cost for resurfacing a 500-square-foot driveway ranges from $2,000 to $5,000.
  • Sealant for a concrete drive can cost $20-$80 per gallon.
  • Sealant for an asphalt drive averages 25 cents per square foot.
