We purchased a bad washer and dryer from the offer up app and the seller became unresponsive when we started having problems. Randy's was super flexible with their schedule and came out quickly and fixed our washer and dryer for a decent price. It's been working great for almost a month now. I would highly recommend hiring them!

After my fiancé and I had a nightmare experience with a former repair man, we had the PLEASURE of meeting with Ivan to fix our dryer. He was VERY professional, wonderful to work with, and extremely fast with his response and work with us. We enjoyed having him for the short time he worked on our dryer. Our dryer is as good as new!! Marcus did a great job repairing not just the fridge, but our dryer, dishwasher, and an attempt at our washer which couldn't be repaired due to a large hole in the liner. We felt the pricing was very reasonable for all machines. He did have some truck issues which caused him to be delayed to the appts. (We had 2 appts for all the machines.) However, his expertise was worth the wait and who doesn't have car trouble sometimes. We will definitely call him again for maintenance on the appliances and any other repairs in the future!

Paul and his crew did an excellent job. We called Paul's company after our new house flooded due to a faulty washer. Paul replaced carpet, linoleum and wood laminate floors for us, as well as installing new tile in our kitchen. He also repaired our ceiling and dry wall and found preexisting damage to the subfloor we were able to take care of it. He was very professional and easy to get in contact with, I would definitely recommend him for future jobs.

I hired Shane to pressure wash my house, porch and the fences around my property after a friend of mine recommended him. I appreciated that he was not in a hurry and spent time on detail. The pressure washing revealed some wood rot on my trim. I was surprised and grateful that Shane turned out to be a talented Carpenter as well as a skilled Pressure Washer. After a quick trip to Lowes for some trim pieces and a little bit of paint, my home looks very much like it did the year we moved in. I recommend Shane to my neighbors and friends without reservation and I have taken the time to write this to recommend him to you. David

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
