What do you love about your job?

We love being able to help students be successful. We realize that when a student is having academic difficulties, it can sometimes lead to stress in the family. We are all about alleviating stress. We love hearing that the tutor who is with a family is a great match, and that the student is doing better. Most of our students are in K-12, but we have worked with older adults up to their 60s.

What or who inspired you to start your own business?

Our son has ADHD and other issues. Our home was a combat zone during his academic career. When we decided to start a business and found the Tutor Doctor franchise, we connected with it, and we have many students that either have learning differences or some other issues. We understand the stress that it can cause. We wanted a business that helped other people and made a contribution to the community.

Describe your most memorable project.

We are working with a college student with autism. We are not actually tutoring but helping him stay organized and making sure he outlines his priorities. We started last year, and it is amazing to see him progress and build his self-confidence.
