Carol was amazing. I've never left the older dog, I have two, with a stranger. They loved her immediately. My VERY shy cat, with anyone but me and 2 or 3 others, came out of hiding with her. I was nervous about going this route but once I met her I was very comfortable. I felt absolutely comfortable leaving for 10 days. She went above and beyond, firstly, she took me to the airport, she took them to the dog park daily, medicated my older dog(oral meds), bathed them as well as cleaning up the house before I came home!! She's very nice, calm, knowledgable about many things and checked in with me about any questions. I'll be using her again very soon!!!

I was new to the Wilmington area, did not know anyone and needed to travel for five days. I found Linda on Thumbtack and sent her an email. She followed up almost immediately with a phone call. We made an appointment for her to meet which she was right on time for and my dog Hooks took to Linda like they were best buddies. She came to visit Hooks once more before my trip and was again right on time the day I left. Linda stayed at my house while I was away and during the trip she kept in touch with texts and photos. When I returned my apartment was as I left it with the bonus of the Sunday paper waiting for me. It was clear from the moment I met Linda that she was an animal lover and very out going, respectful and responsible person. Linda will be the first and only person I call whenever I need to leave my dog at home. Thanks for the peace of mind Linda.

My husband and I recently just moved to the Wilmington, NC area and had to leave town for 10 days and were extremely nervous about leaving our 2 dogs - a 190 lb Great Dane and. 6 lb. Yorkie - with someone new. After meeting Kate in person, I was immediately assured that they would be in very good hands. She kept a log of each time she came to the house and what all she did while she was there and would send me nightly photos of the dogs so that we knew they were doing well. I will be using Kate again next time we are out of town and would highly recommend her for anyone looking for a pet sitter!

I am retired nurse I am trained to know what to do when your dog has an emergency . Most people love my dog and allow him to come and play with their pet. I have many satisfied clients in Little River all willing to give references . I really don't need to advertise I have many client referrals and repeat business. I do not take large dogs unless I go to your house. I love dogs ,I can only own one so this gives me the opportunity to love many. My dog just loves playing with other dogs. I take in your mail water a few plants no outside grass watering but if you have container plants that's fine. I play with the dogs and their toys if you have fenced yard we play outside. I don't mind staying at your home I am a knitter so my hobby travels with me.

I do in your home or mine pet sitting and dog walking. I do canine agility classes, basic obedience, horse farm sitting, stall cleaning, feeding and show prep. I have 30 years of experience.

I am different than most dog trainers. Instead of teaching the dog with human words, I work with the dog in his own language. I empower you,the owner, with the abilIty to understand from the dogs point of view. I believe that bad behaviour can not be fixed without the understanding of why the behaviour started in the first place. I have studied dog behavior for over 30 years in rescue. I also owned a grooming salon and then a boarding kennel for 10 years. I worked with several breeders and showed Chow Chows for a season. I have done Fundamentals1of Training Cesar's Way,a workshop taught by Cesar Millan. My passion is to help you understand what your dog is trying to tell you so that the relationship between you and your dog is a pleasure! I really enjoy seeing the human begin to understand their dog. Most problem behavior is caused by a lack of understanding on the human's part. I want to help you understand what it takes to fullfil your dog, so that he can become a balanced member of your family!

I would love to come to your home and walk or let out your dogs. I live very close to Porters Crossing Way.

Im a high schooler just trying to make money I can walk dogs after school and on the weekends I like getting to meet new people and work with them

I love animals, and I will walk, bathe, and dog sit them. I will come to your home, or you can drop your dog at mine if you need a sitter. My Labrador mix loves other dogs and would enjoy the company.

Thank you for taking the time to stop at my profile and read about my dogs and what I can do to help you. With any dog that has been trusted to me, I would want it to properly walk on a leash and be respectable to other dogs and humans alike. We will take walks in the areas that the owners prefer us to walk in, whether it be just in the yard you live in, or to go to a local park. Every owner and every pet is different. I will accommodate those needs. My personal dogs have achieved the status of the #1 and #2 obedience dog within their breed, in the country. We have just received several field trial and Hunt Test titles in the past 6 months. Manners is mandatory with my dogs. Leash walking skills will be honed into a nice leasurly stroll, instead of the dog taking you for a drag down the road. If you would like more personal training with your dog, that can be something that we talk about on a dog by dog basis. Your dog will learn manners and be taught how to properly walk on a leash, for you, their owner to enjoy. I look forward to meeting new dog owners and helping them with your needs. This is more than taking your dog for a walk. We walk with a mission to become a better dog on a leash. If there is a dog that has had surgeries, I can assist in the rehabilitation and healing process.

I have always loved taking care of dogs and cats. I decided to a business out of it. I will make your pet feel welcomed and loved. I love making animals feel good and taking great care of them. I really enjoy taking dogs on long walks also.

My name is Daniel and I love dogs! I am available to walk your dog, feed your dog, and provide love and attention when you are away!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a dog walker do?

We all know our dogs love going on long, adventure-filled walks, but jobs and family and commuting can make it difficult to give them the leash time they deserve. You can hire a professional dog walker to make sure your furry friend gets adequate exercise and outdoor time each day. A professional dog walker may be an individual contractor or work for a dedicated dog-walking company. In either case, you want to make sure the pro has the appropriate insurance in case of an emergency. Some people opt to give the dog walker a key to their house; others to have them pick up the dog from the yard. Dog walking can happen as often as multiple times per day, or just a few times a month as needed. Here are some questions to ask when you are interviewing a new dog walker:

  • Will you or someone else be walking my dog?
  • Do you have a backup plan if you can’t make it for a scheduled walk?
  • Will you walk my dog by itself, or do you walk several dogs at once?
  • What are your different walk routes?
  • When will you pick up and drop off?
  • How will we communicate?
  • Do I have to commit to a schedule or are you flexible?
  • What’s your cancellation policy?
  • What’s your response plan if my dog gets injured or becomes sick?
  • How and how often do I pay you?
  • Do you offer package pricing if I buy multiple dog walks up front?

How much do dog walkers charge?

The cost of dog walking depends on several factors including length and frequency of dog walks, the number of dogs on the walk, distance to your house, and any additional services you request. The national average cost range for a dog walk is $10-$20, but that price will vary based on where you live in the country and the regional cost of living and doing business.

The longer the dog walk, the higher your costs will be. Dog walkers offer a range of walk lengths, from 15-minute potty breaks to long hikes of 120 minutes or more. For example, a dog walker may charge $15 for a 15-minute walk and $35 for a 35-minute walk. Requesting that your dog be the only animal on the walk will typically mean a higher cost than if you permit your dog to be walked in a pack of dogs. You may be able to get a discounted rate if you have more than one dog to be walked. For example, a professional dog walker may charge $28 for one dog or $33 for two dogs on a 60-minute walk. If you need additional help — like feeding the dogs or giving them medication — dog walkers may be able to provide this service at an additional fee. Dog walkers may charge higher rates for walking your dogs on holidays.
