I hired Shujaur on 7-13-18 to install 14 sets of cellular window shades in my condo. Shujaur was extremely communicative during the hiring process - generally responding within minutes -and he provided a rate that was very competitive so I decided to move forward with him. During the installation process, he was amiable and professional, taking his shoes off when he entered my home (without me even asking!), taking me through his work process and getting clear on what I was specifically looking for, and working quickly and efficiently finishing in under 3 hours. He walked through with me at the end to make sure each shade was installed to my satisfaction and was more than happy to make a slight adjustment to one of the shades to make sure it was aligned perfectly. I'm extremely satisfied with the work that Shujaur did and would gladly recommend him to anyone who is in need of a handyman.
Let me start by saying that I wish I could give Wayne 10 stars, but since I only have the option of 5, that will have to do. Our house is over 100 years old and we are preparing to paint the exterior again. Needless to say, we had quite a "honey do" list of odd repairs that needed attention. Clapboards that were broken or rotting, the railings on the front porch were falling apart, back stairs pulling away from the house, decorative trim that was rotting, brick foundation in need of repointing, new exhaust vents, and finally new doors. Wayne responded to my initial request in record time and stopped by later that day to give me an estimate. Of all the contractors interviewed, he was the only one that completely outlined the work needed with a full materials list and cost breakdown. Others were quite vague and wanted to repair or replace more than was necessary, turning the job into something larger than it really was. That is why I decided to hire Wayne, his straightforward honesty and winning personality sealed the deal. Wayne and his crew started the job immediately and completed it in good time. They cleaned up the yard after and disposed of all the waste materials as well. Earlier I mentioned the decorative trim, he had this ingenious product that was able to halt the rot and preserve as much of the original wood as possible because there would be no way to replicate the trim without spending a ton. This technique was also used on my kitchen bay window, which ended up saving me a fair amount of money in that area. Wayne also went out of his way to find a great deal for my porch door, I described what I wanted and he took care of the rest. Wayne also offered to come back and replace any clapboard that was questionable once the painter gets started. The other area where he excelled was the masonry. I actually contemplated doing the job myself, I'm so happy that I came to my senses and left that up to Wayne. He truly went above and beyond expectations. The brick foundation including the cement pad really needed help. Wayne fixed the grout as well as re-cemented the gap between the foundation and the pad, now when it rains really hard or when snow melts, the basement won't flood. Wayne had really good instincts and advice about tackling the different elements of our project. He approached the job as if he was the homeowner with a budget wanting to spend money wisely. I'm telling you, I can't say enough good things about Wayne and his crew at L & K Construction. I will definitely be using them again in the future.
James was quick to respond to my initial request and was very thorough about the job. He first visited the condo where I needed the work done to make an initial assessment and then he came back a few days later to complete the work. He's very well rounded -- he fixed an electrical outlet, stretched some carpet, repaired a disposal, and helped diagnose a problem with a lock on a sliding glass door.
If I could give Sam 6 stars I would! Arrived on time, and made an amazing job of mounting my tv along with a lot of small jobs, fixing lights, hanging pictures, adjusting cupboard doors and more! He came across multiple complications and found different ways to overcome them! Worked a lot longer and harder than he had to! Friendly, hardworking and all round great guy!
Bob did a tremendous job installing two front doors for us. One was particularly challenging but he problem-solved and made it work. He was also very reasonable and did not try to pass along any hidden costs. I would HIGHLY recommend him.
I Highly recommend Mike Levy for his efficiency and knowledge. He helped us remove and rehang three doors and they required extra effort to make them function properly. We would definitely hire him again for any construction jobs we may need in the future.
We decided to upgrade our home interior by painting and replacing all the interior doors. We used Thumbtack and within hours had 6 or 7 contractors want to quote on the project. We turned down a couple simply because their backgrounds didn’t look to fit our needs. We ended up with 5 looking at the project and offering quotes. Once we had the quotes and asked a few questions we ended up with two contractors, not because of pricing which was very close across the board within 15%. We chose John Pepper because of his background, personality, pictures of past projects, and willingness to answer questions about our project. Once we awarded the project John offered to go with us to pick out and purchase the doors. I offered additional compensation for this activity since it wasn’t listed in the scope of work and he assured us he felt it was part of the job. The project took 8 days. Each day he arrived on time, worked all day, and cleaned up and the end of the day so not to inhibit our lives any more than need be. In fact, we keep our 1-year-old granddaughter two days a week and he arranged his work not interrupt her nap times. Both of us felt very comfortable with him and had no qualms about leaving him alone in the house as we attended to our daily business. The project finished two days early and we both felt good about the quality of his work and would recommend to others and hire him again ourselves.
For our open house we Had some of our ceilings painted, walls painted and lots of trim work!! (Our windows and some doors were all dark brown- we wanted them white to be more modern). The work was quick and clean (no drips or marks anywhere to be found) and Reubert was very easy to work with, responded quickly and was really flexible as we added a couple of Windows last minute. His prices are really reasonable - would definitely recommend him!! If the reviews let me post pictures I would have!
Doors are working great.
Jon from Bolt Lock & Key has done a lot of work at our house. When we moved in we had flimsy locks and a corroded basement door. Jon installed new padlocks and weather stripping to all of the outer doors, replaced our basement door, made copies of my house and motor-scooter keys, and installed an electronic safe in my bedroom. Thanks to Jon, I feel safe at night! He has a security background and is extremely trustworthy, honest and reliable. He has always been both flexible and fair with me, and it's such a reassurance to know I can call him whenever I need to. I strongly recommend this locksmith.
Mark Dubois's Custom Carpentry did an amazing job finishing our basement. Our new space includes a 3/4 bathroom, game room and workout area. Mark even designed and built custom built-ins, making the final product exceed our expectations. Mark was in constant communication, prompt, neat (always cleaned up before leaving) and did high quality work within our budget. We also hired Mark to replace two exterior doors and repair some cracked floor tiles. Highly recommend.
I had a pleasure of hiring Russell for home floor repairing job (engineered hard wood). I would highly recommend Russell for such carpentry work. Based on this fantastic experience, I would consider him for other home repair/installation jobs (gutters, storm door, etc). I had a buckled (peaked) floor due to the seller/installer not leaving enough gaps at the edges to account for expansion of hard wood during summer. I had about 6 estimates, and by far, his pricing was the most reasonable. While most people charged per job, Russell quoted me an hourly rate. Some more reasonable than others. A few were flat out reluctant to do the job, due to its small size (maybe thought it was less profitable) despite the full day needed for its completion. By giving me a ridiculous quote (similar pricing to a new floor installation), they implied they didn't want to work. The job required removing the moldings from the impacted walls, removing all of tiles, then laying them again from the problematic area. He sticks to the quote and to his estimated time. He has a good pace and doesn't linger to buy time. Also, I found him to be very personable. The job was done to the utmost satisfaction. If you want an honest, hard working man to look after your home repair jobs, this would be the guy.
My wife and I hired Frank to repair out garage which included fixing the leak (which he couldn't guarantee was set, but not due to a lack of effort), jacking up and leveling the roof, adding supports, collar ties and a new LVL beam in the correct location. The builders had a useless beam in an incorrect location, Frank fixed that. Also he installed two new doors, replaced rotted trim and anchored a loose wall. His work was excellent; he found things no one else had and recommended future improvements. He maintained great communication and sent pictures and videos frequently to keep us updated. The only issue we ran into, as another reviewer mentioned was his prices. I understand they changed after the loose wall was discovered and we wanted a new door installed but we agreed on a final payment upon completion to our satisfaction. This had changed to the point where we owed a small amount when more work still needed to be done. This made us a little nervous but he was trustworthy and after speaking with him about it, he assured us that he would complete everything. He did and with great skill, flexibility and determination. Frank took on a difficult task with the garage and he completed it and then some. I would hire him again and recommend his work to others. Thanks Frank and Jeff!
It was a long time since I renewed the look of my house. I decided to start with the doors from the outer part of the house. Went to UBrothers. I really liked the prices and the samples, which were presented by Andrii, that I decided not to stop only on doors. I really liked the options of windows that they manufacture. Later he informed me about the dates when everything will be done and the prices. I was happy when I saw the results. Windows and doors not only look stylish but also safe. Master Andrii knows how to listen and really knows what his job.
Alex was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. He was one of the first contractors to reach out to me once I posted my job, and was always responsive and punctual. He met me out the same week I posted the job, gave me an estimate within a few days, and started the job the next week. He completely repainted the exterior of my two-family house, repaired the porch columns, rebuilt the stair railings and replaced one of the exterior doors. Even after he was all paid and the job was done, Alex realized the lock on the door wasn't working properly and made sure it was replaced and perfect before calling the job "done". That's the mark of a true professional! I will definitely be calling Alex in the future for any carpentry/painting needs.
I needed to replace interior doors. I was fortunate to have the opportunity with getting to meet Brian. If a family member had not step in to help with my project, MJC would have been my choice. The price was unbeatable and Brian knew what needed to be done and offered some great ideas to enhance what I wanted to do. If you call this company make sure you ask for Brian, you will be in for a great interaction. A good guy!
Ken did some tile work in my kitchen recently as well as some repairs to my doors and caulking our kitchen cabinets. From start to finish, Ken did a fantastic job! He communicated with me from the get-go, had a fair price, and was flexible with the times that he could come. He arrived on our agreed-upon time, performed the work as promised, and did a phenomenal job. He was done quickly and my wife and I were thrilled with his work. We will definitely be utilizing his services again in the future and I recommend him to anyone who needs any type of handyman work done.
Anouar bid for a job replacing the cabinets in a 9x10 (approx.) galley style kitchen. His bid was a fraction of the cost of the lowest other bids. I had selected the cabinets and had specific requirements for the work to be completed. Anouar went to pick out the cabinets and saw that all were not available. He also thought the price was higher than it needed to be. He found comparable cabinets for approximately 60% of the cost I had found saving me $600 on materials. He removed the old cabinets, patched the holes, textured and painted the surface then installed the new cabinets. The counter needed replacing so he found one--again, at a better rate than what I found--and did the entire job, start to finish, in under 3 days. The previous cabinets were what was in the home when it was built nearly 30 years ago so he redesigned the layout to something open to light. I am EXTREMELY pleased with the work he did. He went out of his way to complete the job efficiently. He finished the job before any other offeror could even start. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Brent was able to quickly diagnose the root cause of our water leak problem and get it sealed up properly. He also fixed a related problem with a sliding glass door which had swollen from the water leak. We are pleased with the work he did for us and would not hesitate to use him again for other projects.
Ben's workmanship was great. He fixed/replaced my external door beyond my expectations, and stood by his original quote even though the scope of the work expanded. He was punctual and thorough and explained each of the steps necessary and options available. I was very happy with the end result and would hire Ben again for carpentry or other house repairs that might come up.
Hired Tony to install a patio door on a second floor balcony, which most pros would shy away from. He completed the Job in one day, was on time, and addressed a few issues that came up along the way. He made sure plenty of sealant was used, and that everything was flush and level which was a major concern. He explained every part of the process, sent out invoices and acknowledged payment. Very happy with the experience and the new door. Thank you Tony. Will definitely call him in the future for some other projects. Thank you Thumbtack!
