I have been taking jazz guitar lessons from Dom for almost a year and a half now. His particular approach to teaching music is very refreshing from all others I've encountered before. Dom has a certain way of finding a student's particular sound on their instrument and personalizing each lesson to better bring out this sound. My experience so far has been completely positive and I look forward to more lessons.
Phenomenal musician, great teacher, cool cat - I rate David First INFINITY STARS. I've studied music here and there, but it wasn't until I started taking bass lessons with David a few years ago that it all came together for me. He explains music theory in a way I can understand and translate to actual practice that is not a chore, it is fun and addictive! Besides developing technical skill, Dave also helped me grow as a musician by getting over feeling awkward jamming with other people. I eventually felt comfortable enough to audition for bands and ended up in a fun one, playing out in the city even! David was there for my first gig, too. My husband was so impressed with my progress, he started guitar lessons last year and has come so far, it is amazing. We feel like Grasshoppers to David's Master Po. He is the best, ok I'll stop now, you get it.
Michelle is great with kids. Our 7-year old daughter loves her piano lessons and always looks forward to them. More important, we can hear that she is really learning and making great progress. Two of her school friends have started lessons with Michelle after we recommended her.
I can't say enough fantastic things about Christopher. He taught my daughter in home guitar lessons. He is professional, responsible, easy to work with and a genius on guitar. He taught my daughter so much and she plays beautifully. I would recommend him to anyone!
Sean was a great piano and guitar teacher for my twin girls age seven. He had the perfect balance between patience and direction.
Ms. Gwin is excellent and my daughter and I are happy and very fortunate to have found her for piano lessons. From day 1, she has been very accommodating, knowledgeable and passionate, which is reflected through her teaching. My daughter is only 4 years old and Ms. Gwin was able to creatively adapt concepts to meet her current level of understanding. With just 2 months of instruction, meeting once per week for 30 minutes, my daughter has already mastered playing "Mary Had a Little Lamb", as well as, some piano theory. My daughter looks forward to her weekly sessions and I am very pleased with the talent that she is so quickly developing.
Josh is clearly very skilled with a guitar and has taught many students before. He will tailor the lessons towards what you would most want to learn, and in that sense he is very flexible. He is extremely friendly and punctual. Even in my first lesson he was able to help my technical ability improve dramatically, and I'm much more confident of being able to pick up new songs quickly. I look forward every week to the lessons.
His teaching is excellent , everything is broken down to my understanding and he is a friendly person. Literally love playing the guitar, Kevin is very comical and I enjoy the guitar lessons!
Conor seems to be very calm and patient. Neha is very responsive and very good to work with in setting you up with a great teacher got your specific instrument. I look forward to the lessons and I felt very comfortable. I’m excited!
My son had his first guitar lesson last week. Drew is punctual, professional, friendly, and great with kids.. it was easy to set up a day and time that works best for us. Looking forward to our next lesson. Lena
Liv had the most wonderful experience with her first year of learning the ukulele. She loved her instructor and is now playing some great songs. We can't wait to continue and even get into guitar lessons as well!
My 7 year old was new to Guitar lessons and Bryan had handled him so well, with patience... would defy recommend him....
Dan was so flexible in arranging a "birthday gift" of guitar lessons for our daughter. Though the schedules haven't worked out yet for the lessons, my daughter is really looking forward to such. Friendly, and approachable man. A pleasure to deal with!
Mr. Connor has been working with my children the last two years. He is an amazing teacher who is very patient and kind to my children. He is teaching them Chinese, singing, drum and guitar. Unlike other teacher we had in the past, Mr. Connor incorporate games and songs into all his lessons which makes language learning much more interest. My children adores Mr. Connor and looking forward to work with him every time.
Inspiring jazz guitar lessons: technique, theory, chord melody, improvisation.
I've been working on improving and refreshing my guitar skills with Brian a little over six months now. At first, I didn't really know what to expect since I haven't picked up music in over 15 years. What I liked about Brian is that he was able to customize my lessons to my level. I wasn't a true beginner, but I also wasn't advanced in guitar. He was able to test and adjust his lessons to match my skill level . So far, he has helped me improve in sight reading, finger style techniques, and develop a repertoire of several classical songs. In addition, we've explored Blues and Jazz and scales /accompaniment chords to i for solo guitar improvisations. I love working with Brian and tapping into his vast knowledge of musical styles and techniques. He is flexible and can change the course of a lesson on a dime. Some weeks we strictly work on technique, which is important. He's also a stickler for correct technique and will point out error in form if necessary. My favorite thing about working with Brian is that he is the first instructor (and I've had many) that focuses on developing style and musicality. Many instructors will move a student along when they learn how to play a song..but completely dismiss the importance of performing a piece with musicality in mind. I whole heartedly endorse and recommend Brian as a music / guitar instructor. Don't look further!
My 12-year old nephew has been taking guitar lessons with John for about three years now and I can't believe how much he has improved! John is patient, kind and inspiring and my nephew is always excited for his next lesson with him. We have had a couple of teachers before John but John is by far the most experienced and motivating. He also has a very structured approach to the lesson and my nephew always walks away with a clear idea of exactly what he needs to practice. I should also mention that my nephew is interested in many different types of music and John is knowledgeable in all fields, and is happy to cater to my nephew's musical tastes while at the same time maintaining an organized teaching regiment. I would recommend John for anyone, he is a great teacher all around!
My experience with Yuto, I could say, was life-changing. The amount of not only knowledge, but really feeling of what Jazz and music in general can be, was endless. Yuto treats you as a real friend, and his lessons are both very practical, but also with a theoretical foundation that really provides a real sense of what you are playing or composing. Also, Yuto, above all, is a great human being, with a big heart and passion for music. We ended up recording some things at his studio and continue to be good friends. I will always thank him and consider him to be one of the best musicians I´ve played with and hope to play again soon with him. To anyone that is looking for lessons on Jazz, or classical or any kind of music. I could, with all sincerety say, Yuto is the one for you. -Diego D.
Jim’s lessons strike a perfect balance between practical, real-world skills and theoretical knowledge. What started for me as “I'll take a few lessons to get some basic skills on guitar as a second instrument” turned into four years of serious study covering many, many concepts, styles and techniques. His ability to accurately read a students skill level and the direction of their interests (as well as his sense of humor) enables him to build a curriculum that stays interesting, challenging and fun. Thanks to Jim, I have a much more complete understanding of the guitar, and of music in general. Ethan Brooklyn, NY
Richard (Ian) Farrington is an absolutely amazing guitar teacher. To start, Ian is a fantastic & knowledgeable musician and guitarist. He is very good at communicating his lessons and teaching. He really knows how to simplify a concept or technique and then build from there into more complex techniques and faster playing. Saying that, in the few months Ian and I have worked together, my guitar skills have drastically improved. Next is Ian's Professionalism, which in my opinion is unmatched in the industry. He is on time, extremely well prepared, kind and understanding. He emails me a lesson plan the night before so I can properly prepare for our sessions and really make the most of our time together. He also assisted in creating a binder in order to organize my music and techniques. Overall Ian's Professionalism and organization really allows me to get the most value from our lesson time as well as my individual practice time. Ian has been an absolute pleasure all around in terms of his attitude, knowledge/teaching skills, organization, commitment and overall professionalism. I can't say enough about him. 10 out of 10!
I had been writing songs on the guitar for a year and a half when I started lessons with Natalia. Meeting weekly on Skype/Zoom she had me writing more and better stuff while also working on guitar technique. After working four months with her I had one of my songs win a song writing contest here in Seattle which led to a CD and paid concert gig! I couldn't have imagined I'd be writing at this level so quickly but working with a professional like Natalia can really accelerate your learning. I'm sure I'll be taking lessons from her years from now
