Thumbtack Spotlight

Tinsel & Tine

What do you love about your job?

I love highlighting and promoting what others are creating and doing. Interacting on social media gives me a rush. I feel mostly creative taking my laptop and working from coffee shops, which I try to do as often as possible.

What or who inspired you to start your own business?

When I started blogging 6 years ago, I never would have thought about working with brands or being an "influencer". I just liked the blogging platform and wanted a way to keep writing while I was waiting for the inspiration to write another screenplay. But over time, I developed a following of people who feel like they know and trust me, which is great, except that it seemed as though that relationship could be harnessed in a way to create income. So I started using Tinsel & Tine as a platform to market and campaign for great companies and organizations. Most businesses have to self-promote. It's expected, but when you have another outlet promoting you, I believe that it creates more of an impact. Like when Oprah makes her list of favorite things, that's when that product starts flying off the shelf. Of course, I'm nowhere near Oprah, but I am offering my endorsement, which I think could have a farther reach than a company's own social media.
