Having lived in the city for three years I've tried a handful of different cleaning services. Everything from smaller single owned companies to larger ones. Todays Maid is hands down the best service I've used. They are extremely nice and easy to use. Scheduling a cleaning service is quick and they have lots of times available to best work with your schedule!

Ackthba was on time and did a great job of taking down a TV mounted on my wall and sealing the holes. Everything was quick and done in a professional manner and I would highly recommend him for anyone who needs handyman services.

Mike went above and beyond in his services with his carpet cleaning expertise. Our carpets see a lot of heavy foot traffic and he did an excellent job with cleaning our carpets and common areas. I could not believe how much dirt came up from the cleaning! Use his services for your cleaning needs! He's the right man for the job.

They sent over 2 great cleaning ladies and deep an outstanding job that I didn't even have to explain what I was looking for in each room or bathroom. (I.E. there was a ton of dust I was going to mention but then looked and already cleaned). Over all I would recommend their service to anyone for deep cleaning and other services as they are phenomenal service as happy to answer any questions someone if they are considering their service!

Very good experience. I needed to clean my air ducts for long time, because I have allergy for dust mites. I found this company through Yelp. Called them and get clear explanation how the process of Air Duct Cleaning will look like and booked appointment for my convenient time they were pretty flexible. They take huge amount of dust from ducts and cleaned my dryer vent for free. I can feel how much easier become to breath in my home. I like excellent advices how to keep Indoor Air Quality on highest level. Price is very affordable. Will recommend this company for my friends.

Sherri and team showed up early and got right to work. Team of 3 spent ~2 hours on our apartment. Pros: - Timely - They did a great job on the appliances. It's obvious that they wiped down the inside of the microwave and refrigerator, which doesn't happen with many cleaning services. - Great job on bathrooms (my primary focus area for the clean) - They washed and put away the few dishes that were in the sink (not all cleaning services will go to this level) - Price was fair Recommendations: - I found some of the cleaning products used to have an odd smell (perhaps just a preference thing) - They did not wipe down any windowsills; not a deal breaker (took me two minutes after they left to wipe them down) - I have hardwood floors throughout and I found a few dust bunnies underneath furniture right after they left. Again, not a deal breaker and a quick fix right after they left. Next time, I would give clear instruction to ensure they are dusting under all furniture. All in all, easy to work with. I'm sure Sherri would be receptive to my recommendations if we decide to use their services again!

Johnny was so great, friendly, easy going, and talented. He did an expert job repairing my table and put up with the annoying task of moving my rug when I had not done a great job of prepping / cleaning up for the task.

I received a response from Rosita's House Cleaning within minutes of my inquiry on Thumbtack. Maria (Boss) came the very same evening to look at my house so I could meet her in person and tell her what I wanted done. Her price was in line with the going rate. I set up an appointment for the following week to have my house cleaned every 2 weeks. I felt comfortable enough to have Maria come while I was not at home. She assured me that the girls that work with her have been with her for many years and Maria would always be there for the cleaning. I have been through 8 housecleaners and have only asked 1 back for a second time. I never liked anyone enough to pay for them. I consider myself a little picky. I want the tops of all the door frames dusted on both sides. There can't be any streaks on anything after cleaning. No strong odors. My floors have to be exceptionally clean because I have 2 cats and an 18 month old baby. The day Maria came, I asked her to give me a price on an apartment in my house that was vacant. She was able to clean it the same day, which was nice. It looked amazing when they were finished. As for my house, I was SO happy when I walked in the door. Everything smelled so nice and fresh with just a very subtle scent. I went through room by room and could not believe how happy I was with the job. When I saw they had put away the dishes I had left in the drainer, I was a little disappointed because I would have to go searching for where they put them. But I opened the cabinets to find everything was in the right place after only one visit to my house! My husband puts dishes away from time to time and he has no clue where they go and he lives here! The tops of my door frames were all dusted and even a junk room I told her she didn't have to clean was spotless. With a baby, it is impossible to have your whole house clean all at once if you are doing it yourself. It was such a nice feeling knowing the whole house was spotless. Now I have more time with my daughter instead of saying "just a minute" to her 50x a day. Also, Maria speaks excellent English and even texts. I am so happy and relieved I found Rosita's House Cleaning. It took me a long time to find them, but now that I have, I will DEFINITELY stick with them. Call them. You will not be disappointed.

We asked Luciana for a pre-move heavy cleaning. The house was really dirt and she did an amazing job. Floor, windows and appliances very clean. They are also honest. I asked to clean my fridge and she saw the fridge was already clean, so she didn’t charge me for that.

We asked Joey to clean up the dryer and its vent for me. He did an excellent job. He not only snaked the vent, opened up the machine and vacuumed the inside, but also vacuumed the floor, and wiped the floor and the door of the laundry room. He was careful to use different cloths to wipe different parts. In a nutshell, he left with our laundry room clean and tidy. We highly recommend Joey.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How often should you get your air ducts cleaned?

How often you should clean your air ducts depends on your situation. If you or someone in the home has asthma or is acutely allergic to certain airborne materials or pollen, regular duct cleaning may be helpful. The Environmental Protection Agency doesn’t have an official position on the necessity of air duct cleaning unless the ducts have been contaminated by rodents, insects or mold, or you are aware of particles blowing out through the vents. The EPA recommends you have your air ducts cleaned on an as-needed basis. The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) suggests having air ducts cleaned every three to five years.

Be cautious with companies that offer “whole house air duct cleaning,” urges the NADCA. The company may be using unscrupulous tactics to upsell you once they get started. Before any work begins, always clarify in writing what the job entails and what the cost will be. To protect yourself against fraud, read customer reviews and verify that your HVAC cleaning service has applicable licenses and certifications.

Do you need to clean your air ducts?

Air duct cleaning is done by heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) professionals. The pros use industrial-strength, truck-mounted vacuums and powerful brushes and hoses to clean inside the metal ducts that make up your forced air heating and cooling system. The Environmental Protection Agency recommends duct cleaning if there is “substantial visible mold growth inside hard surface ducts, ducts that are infested with vermin such as rodents or insects, or ducts that are clogged with excessive amounts of dust and debris and/or particles are actually released into the home from your supply registers.”

You should also have air ducts cleaned after recent water contamination or water damage to prevent mold; after renovations or remodeling to ensure debris and dust didn’t settle in the vents and ducts; if you are having problems with allergies or asthma; or when you are moving into a newly purchased home, especially if the previous owners smoked or had pets. The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) recommends getting your air ducts cleaned every three to five years, or every two to three years in regions where homeowners use their air conditioning and heater for many months of the year, while the EPA suggests homeowners have duct cleaning done as needed.

How long does it take to get your ducts cleaned?

The amount of time air duct cleaning takes can depend on how extensive your duct system is, how old your air ducts are, and whether they have ever been cleaned. On average, expect a standard size home (between 2,000 and 3,000 square feet) to take 2-5 hours for one to two technicians to clean. Here are the proper protocol and equipment you should expect from a professional duct cleaning service, as recommended by the Environmental Protection Agency:

  • All doors and access ports opened to ensure the entire duct system is inspected and cleaned.
  • Thorough system inspection prior to cleaning to identify possible asbestos-containing materials. If asbestos is present, specially trained and equipped contractors must do the removal.
  • Use of approved vacuum equipment that exhausts particles outside of your house. If the vacuum exhausts inside your home, it must be HEPA equipment.
  • Furnishings and carpet covered and protected.
  • Soft-bristled brushes only on fiberglass duct board and sheet metal ducts internally lined with fiberglass.
  • Ductwork properly protected.
  • Adherence to guidelines and practices set down by the National Air Duct Cleaners Association.

How much does it cost to replace air ducts in a house?

If your air ducts have been damaged, you’ll need to replace them. The national average air duct replacement cost is $150-$280, which may not include materials. Factors such as duct material, labor, location of ducts and linear feet of ductwork will all affect your final costs. Labor costs will vary based on how accessible the ducts are and what material your ducts are made of. The least expensive duct material is a flexible, non-metallic ducting that costs approximately $1-$2 per linear foot. Flexible aluminum is generally more expensive and stronger than non-metallic ducting. Stainless steel ducting is the strongest, the least flexible (meaning installing it typically has higher labor rates), and usually the most expensive. An average price for air duct replacement could range between $35 and $55 per linear foot, including basic materials and labor. A typical single-family home has 6-10 duct runs; replacing or installing one duct run could average $150-$250 for labor.

How much does it cost to have your air ducts cleaned?

If you’re concerned about dust, allergens or mold, it may be time to have your air ducts cleaned. The national average cost for air duct cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Air duct cleaning costs will vary based on a number of factors such as your location in the country, the age and condition of your air ducts, the number of linear feet to be cleaned, and any repairs your ducts may need. HVAC cleaning companies should clearly outline what is included in their services and at what rate, so always make sure you understand and have a written agreement before work begins. Here are some examples of average air duct cleaning costs:

  • Tiered pricing for different levels of service:
    • Standard cleaning: $100, which may include truck-mounted industrial vacuums, high-pressure air wands and air snakes to clean all supply and return vents, branch lines, and main trunk lines.
    • Advanced cleaning: $200, which may include standard cleaning services, plus rotobrush or viper clean sweep in the main trunk lines.
    • Ultimate cleaning: $400, which may include advanced cleaning, plus insertion of a viper microline into all vents to force debris down the branch lines and into the main trunk lines, to be handled by the viper clean sweep. Typically, all ductwork surface is contacted, before-and-after photos are provided, and the furnace is cleaned.
  • A flat rate for unlimited vents: $289.
  • Additional fees for larger houses: $20 for each additional 500 square feet over 2,500.
