About

Michelle is great with kids. Our 7-year old daughter loves her piano lessons and always looks forward to them. More important, we can hear that she is really learning and making great progress. Two of her school friends have started lessons with Michelle after we recommended her.

About

I am a musician and composer living in Brooklyn and teaching private piano lessons in New York City. I bring to lessons a solid and expansive education in music performance, theory, and composition in different styles, as well as the ability to explain and display the necessary skills in a variety of ways for a diversity of learning styles. I teach an aggressive curriculum, but one that is tailored to the student's personal strengths and weaknesses, and I always remain gentle and patient while guiding my students through the rewarding process of learning to create music. I have been playing the piano for 20 years, studying music performance, theory, and history at Concord Academy, The Wells College Program for the Arts in Paris, and Sarah Lawrence College, where I also studied electronic music, ethnomusicology, composition, and conducting. I am currently pursuing a Master of Music degree in composition at Brooklyn College Conservatory. Please feel free to contact me at any time either via email or phone with any questions.

About

We were looking for a Jazz piano teacher for our teenage daughter. How lucky we were to have found Joanthan Segal! He's exceptionally talented and patient - a rare combination. Our daughter has been going to him for weekly private lessons since 2015 and is very happy with his instructions. She looks forward to her time with Jonathan every week and can't wait to get home and practice what they worked on! I highly recommend Jonathan to anyone seeking quality piano lessons.

About

I have trained through Trinity College, London, and the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, as well as now getting my Master's degree in Music at Hunter College, New York. I'm flexible with lesson times: 30-, 45-, or 60-minute lessons. In my lessons you will work on fun stuff (the pieces you like and want to play) and also the exercises that will improve your technique and help you play better (kind of a "workout"). It really helps your playing overall to work on technique but I promise to not make it too boring! Many clients also ask if I can help them to rent or buy a violin or keyboard. I can definitely help with that and have done so for many clients already.

About

Get voice and piano lessons from an energetic singer! No matter the age, I will find out about what you are interested in besides music and use that as a hook to help you understand what's going on in our lessons. Although I am tough, I want you to get the most out of your time. I am positive and love to laugh. As a former teacher, I have taught K to 8th grade music. During that time, I taught 6th- to 8th-grade chorus; my program grew at a rate of 30% annually compared to the band and orchestra who struggled to gain 5%. I attributed this success to my style of teaching which is accessible to everyone. Besides teaching in public schools, I have also taught members of my own private studio from ages 10 to 60, and worked as an associate director of music for a church in North Carolina. I currently sing at St. Joseph Chapel (St. Peter's) in Battery Park City. Stop by the 7:30PM mass on Sundays to hear my play/sing! Having just finished my masters from the Manhattan School of Music in opera performance, I am an active opera singer. Voice and piano lessons occur at my home studio for a competitive rate. I look forward to speaking with you soon! -- Andy

About

My two sons are taking Suzuki Piano lessons with Moe's Piano Studio. Joseph is ten years old and every week he looks forward to his piano lesson at Moe's Piano Studio. Moe has been teaching him for over two years. We originally chose Moe's because he is truly dedicated to teaching piano and to his students mastering Suzuki. Moe uses a variety of games and activities to keep the students motivated and on track. He also rewards his students when they reach milestone achievements by awarding certificates, trophies and prizes. Most importantly, Moe holds a number of piano performance recitals throughout the year so the students always have a goal they are working towards. Moe has a great personality. He is professional yet at the same time friendly and funny. This is why Moe is also perfect for the very young student. Matthew was just 4 years old when he started Suzuki piano at Moe's Piano Studio. The many motivating games and activities that Moe employs while teaching Matthew enhance the learning experience. Both of my sons are excellent piano players due to the first class lessons at Moe's. - Marta, Franklin Lakes

About

I offer trumpet lessons (all levels) and piano lessons (from beginner to intermediate) in your home. My piano students have at least one recital per year in which my trumpet students may participate as well. I have a unique way to start beginning piano students, which combines the best of traditional music notation with Suzuki instruction and ideas from the "Music Tree" method. Music reading fluency is a priority as well as proper technique and repertoire. Younger students use Montessori type instruction to obtain a solid foundation in note reading. On the trumpet, I specialize in NYSSMA instruction, classical repertoire and technique, jazz improvisation study, and excellence in music reading. I help students to perform their very best with school ensembles. Above all, my students enjoy playing their instruments and smile a lot during the lessons. I especially love teaching beginners on both instruments and find that aspect of my job to be very rewarding and enjoyable. The way that the brain processes music reading and performing is a special interest of mine, and I have consequently had success with students who haven't thrived with other teachers, including students with learning/processing differences. My students are consistently successful at NYSSMA and are often chosen to participate in area all-state, all-county, and all-state organizations. Some have gone on to be music majors at schools, such as the University of Massachusetts and SUNY-Buffalo. I have many local references and testimonials by band directors. I teach primarily in the following areas: Briarcliff Manor, Ossining, Millwood, Chappaqua, Armonk, Somers, Mt. Kisco, Irvington, and Ardsley, but will consider other areas if you can schedule your lessons at the beginning or end of my day or if you have more than one student. Please visit my piano and trumpet blogs at my website.
