Degrees: B.M in Vocal Performance from the Hartt School of Music. Karina is an operatic Soprano who currently resides in New York. She Began studying music at age 10. Since then, Karina has performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall and Radio City. She has travelled with the Alion Baltic International Festival and given numerous concerts in Estonia. She has also performed as Ms. Jessel from The Turn Of The Screw in Boston while participating in the New England Opera Intensive Program. Her most recent performance was in January 2020 as Susanna in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro with the New York Lyric Opera at the National Opera Center. Experience: -Show Choir Director for the YMCA Footlights program in Hartford, CT from 2015- 2018 -Music To Your Home in New York, NY- 2018-2019 -MusiKa in New York, NY- 2018-2019 -I School of Music 2019-Present My Method My methods of teaching vary depending on how old my student is and their current level. For example, with a young beginner I will start off by teaching them the scale. (DO RE MI FA SOL LA TI DO) and showing them how each note correlates with a specific pitch. I will then sing the warm up with them a few times until they can do it on their own. I also like to do rhythm exercises with my younger students for example I will clap a rhythm and have them clap it back to me. I will assign repertoire that is appropriate for their level. An example of this could be the little mermaid song 'Part of Your World'. If I am teaching an intermediate student I will do warm ups up and down the octaves on vowels e-eh-ah-oh-ooh, I will also do staccato exercises as well as teaching breathing techniques. Adequate repertoire will be assigned perhaps "Caro Mio Ben". If I am teaching an advanced student, I will work on technique, stage presence, as well as proper singing posture and exercises to help transfer between passaggios (registers) in their voice. Lesson Style: I like to keep my students motivated. I like to set goals for myself as a teacher, and also expect my students to set goals for themselves. An example of this could be the student's goal to attend three auditions per year, or they want to learn how to sing for a school talent show, or they are preparing for NYSSMA/ABRSM.See more

After 9 years of teaching in Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN, I moved to La Crosse, WI for my wife's grad program. I am still taking face-to-face students, but am pivoting toward online lessons via Zoom. I have found this can be a great option for some students because they can be wherever they are comfortable and there is no need to travel. I was surprised by how similar it is to an in-person lesson as well! I believe that life is a story that each of us is telling with each day. I am drawn to the idea of working hard to help other people tell the best story possible and I believe that music is one medium through which that I can do that. I know that music has made me a better listener, communicator, thinker, feeler, and developed many other indispensable skills in me. I want to use music to help others thrive. My philosophy is to contextualize lessons to each student's goals and needs so the musical journey is as unique as the person traveling. I first picked up the cello in 2000 and became addicted to playing, adding as many instruments as I could. I have been teaching since 2010, both as a private instructor and as a music leader in a church setting. I have a B.S. in Music from the University of Northwestern-St. Paul where I majored in cello. I am excited to connect! I love getting to know students and helping them achieve their goals! I believe in holistic growth beyond just making music. I see lessons as an opportunity for both the student and myself to continue to get better musically and otherwise!See more

Hi, my name is Mike Strausbaugh, and I'm a true Music/Guitar Mentor, based in Denver, Colorado. I work with select students across the U.S. via Zoom. Thinking about in-person lessons? I get it. Seems more 'personal.' But you're limiting your options to LITERALLY a handful of people who say they teach guitar. What if even the very best one is still like most - not a 'teacher' at all, but a guy who plays guitar and has bills? But studying with a Mentor online allows you to expand your choices exponentially, to work with the best ANYWHERE. And if you're working with a true 'teacher,' it doesn't matter if they're 3 feet away, or 3 states away. I can't speak for others, but none of my students are suffering a lack of quality! How do I know I can help? Here's a bit about me... - Master of Music - Classical Guitar - Master of Music - Composition - Master of Music - Jazz Studies - Metro State Denver music faculty (2019-2020) - 20+ years full-time music instruction - countless live performances in rock, metal, classical, jazz, pop, bluegrass, and more...... I transitioned online when COVID hit, but I soon realized something huge: not only are lessons just as effective as in-person, but I can work with people everywhere. People just like you! And I'm a fun guy! You'll be learning more, and learning better, because your lessons don't seem like 'lessons.' They're more like a relaxed hang, your weekly check-in where knowledge is shared and 'mistakes' are just golden opportunities. So, it doesn't matter if you've never picked up a guitar, or have played for 20 years. It also doesn't matter if you want to learn 'this' style, or 'that' genre,' I can help you!See more

Berklee College of Music Graduate. Have been teaching for many years and know that each student has their own mindset and we need to work around each person`s goals and interests. I teach mainly pop, rock, blues, jazz, classical, funk, RnB. All ages and levels are welcome. *** Lesson Details *** Lessons are very relaxed and we will focus on ways to practice and getting the student to learn what he/she wants. Some people just want to come and learn a few tunes, some want to really learn the instrument and practice all the time. It all depends on the individual and I`m more than ready to adapt for each one of my students with the methods I have. On our first class we will spend some time discussing what are the goals of the student and I will formulate a good plan so we can reach those goals in no time. I usually have 3 main paths that the student can choose. 1st - Learn the instrument enough so you can play your favorite songs and have fun with friends. 2nd(most requested) - Learn the instrument from scratch. Study technique, repertoire, a little of reading and music theory and learn how to improvise. This will allow the person to have their own tools to study on their own after attending classes with me. 3rd - Usually people who have been playing before like this one. We will go deep in music theory, ear training, reading, improvising and technique. Always leaning challenging tunes that will develop the student skills. This one allows the student to follow a professional path on the future, or maybe go into a music college. *Location Classes can be taken online, students location(Brooklyn and Manhattan only), or at my home studio in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. *Under 18 students For children under 18 parents are more than welcome to stay for the classes, tell me if there is any specific goal you are looking for or talk about any subject that you might want. *AUDITION PREP I also help people to prepare for auditions. For this subject, I will tell you how to get ready for an audition. If you are trying to get in a college I have many contacts around the country and know how most auditions work and can help you with any question there might be. For auditions for orchestras or band we can work on repertoire and behavior to get you ready and all set to get accepted.See more

I Teach Because I Love It: I love seeing a student reach their goals. I’ve been working with music students for long enough now that I am able to quickly determine what their next best action should be… the action that will enable them to grow & evolve as guitar players, whether they are a complete beginner, or a complete professional, I have a keen sense of ascertaining a student’s skill level, so that I can quickly get them into working on the musicianship skills that will transform their playing. The sessions are always efficient... and they are very effective, very quickly. As a beginner, you can approach the learning process in a way that keeps it fun & exciting while building the techniques & vocabulary that you use every day. The cool thing about the guitar is that all of the chords & strumming patterns that you learn from day one are the same chords & strumming patterns you’ll use as an intermediate or advanced player. You don’t have to start with super basic “baby” steps & then learn what the “real” players use later down the road. You get to immediately start with the real deal. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Goal Clarity: No matter what your personal goals for playing are, there is always a way to get there. Goal clarity is essential to getting the most out of your efforts. Once you have a clear idea of the kind of player you want to be, it is merely a matter of reverse-engineering. Together, we create a plan & a process to realize the version of yourself that you aspire to. And that’s what I love to do… co-create a personalized curriculum with you that will accomplish precisely that result. You create your vision, and I guide you on how to get there. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Success Mindset: I think everybody understands the concept that the more time you put into the playing & practicing, the faster you will progress. It’s mostly a matter of clarifying the specific things you need to work on. However, maintaining an effective mindset during your practice makes all the difference in the world. Our sessions will include how to create & maintain a highly effective mindset that allows creativity to grow. It turns out, for most people, their belief system is the first thing they need to take a look at… what do you believe you are capable of accomplishing? My experience has shown me that starting with figuring out a person’s mindset is always crucial to making the learning take hold. And this propels them into taking the steps that result in a profound change with their playing. So many students don’t realize that they are carrying around ideas about themselves & the guitar & the process… ideas that are holding them back from realizing their vision for themselves as an artist, who is a musician, who is a guitarist. I feel the teacher & the student work should together to create a personalized curriculum that focuses on the musicianship skills necessary to play the music you love. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Getting Started: You can take one session to check it out & see if this is a good fit for you, and then take it from there. There is no obligation… you can take as many, or as few lessons, as you would like. You can schedule lessons at any frequency… once a week, once every two weeks, once a month, twice a week, or here & there. I think of myself as a personal trainer: whether you have practiced every day or not at all, our sessions are designed to meet you wherever you’re at. This takes the pressure off and keeps our sessions fun. It depends on your agenda for the development of your playing ability. It’s important to have realistic expectations for your progress, so we’ll explore all options for your lessons & practice sessions. That way, you’ll choose an informed productive approach that fits your lifestyle. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Curriculum: • Learn the skills you need to play the music you love • Be empowered through one-on-one sessions • Increase your potential as a musician & guitarist with a personalized curriculum • All levels of instruction… from complete beginner to complete professional • Practice effectively with a holistic accelerated goal-oriented approach: - increase your motivation - utilize proven time management skills - sharpen your focus & concentration - build confidence develop an effective mindset • Learn how to absorb more material at a deeper level in a shorter amount of time • Invest your time & energy in an approach to learning which ensures measurable (definable) improvement • You can explore any & all styles of music: Rock, Pop, Jazz, Blues, Country, Metal, Hip Hop, Folk, Reggae, Classical, & more • Ages: 14 years old & up ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Background: • Over thirty-five years of experience worldwide: composer, performer, clinician, educator   • Creator of The 99 Decisions Guitar Program, a comprehensive online instructional video course for guitar that utilizes a holistic approach to teaching effective strategies for time management, setting goals, building confidence, & maintaining a positive mindset • Ten years as instructor @ the GRAMMY Foundation’s Summer Music Career Camp in Los Angeles, California, working with industry notables such as Ryan Seacrest, Nick Jonas, Earth, Wind & Fire, Ricky Minor, David Foster, and more •  Current faculty member specializing in Music Theory and Songwriting at The ex’treme Institute, in Saint Louis, Missouri • Teaching residencies at The Center of Creative Arts (COCA) & The Sheldon Theater in Saint Louis, Missouri • Toured North & South America with Latin Pop band, La Quinta Estacion, ending with winning a GRAMMY for Best Latin Pop album 2010 • Released an acclaimed Modern Jazz album of original compositions, In This Present Moment, featuring Jimmy Haslip, Peter Erskine, Larry Goldings, Bob Sheppard, James Genus, and Terri Lyne Carrington • Extensive recording session work for numerous artists across numerous genres •  Achieved two academic degrees: - Musicians Institute (GIT), Los Angeles, California, Performance Degree - Citrus College, Azusa, California Associate of Art Degree • Endorsed by Godin Guitars, Tom Anderson Guitars, Mesa Boogie Amplification, Elixir Strings, & Levy’s LeathersSee more
