Introduction: Hi! My name is Abel Tabares and I am a professional drummer. I graduated in 2013 from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University with a degree in Jazz Studies. While at Rutgers I was fortunate enough to teach privately for their Extension Division. It was this job that helped me gain experience teaching and nailing down a job right out of college. Since then, I have taught hundreds of students from children to adults and maintain a rigorous gigging schedule.

I teach 4th & 5th gr Orchestra in the Westfield Public Schools & I took drum set lessons with Abel. He also taught the drum set students that played with my orchestras in 4 schools. I love his attention to detail. He teaches his students every aspect of the drum part rather than just an approximation. These details make all the difference in making the music special & more interesting. His teaching added so much to my orchestras. And he helped me improve so much as a drum set player myself.

Abel has been an incredible source of knowledge and joy during our drum lessons. He is professional and thoughtful, clearly shows genuine care for my growth as his student, is really easy to get along with and always creates a comfortable environment to learn in. He’s got jokes, too! I will not be taking lessons from anyone else as long as I can continue to have Abel as my teacher!

Abel was my sons first drum teacher and it couldn’t have gone any better He always taught and communicated professionally with both my son and me from day one My son will never forget his experience and what he has learned from such a great person and drummer If my son turns out to be half the drummer Abel is it was worth all and more I would always recommend him to anyone
