Introduction: Hello! I am a musician, bassist and teacher for beginners and intermediate level players. I studied music industry at Northeastern University in Boston, and taught music at Boston Preparatory Public Charter School for 2 years. I also have several years of experience with private lessons for bass and drums. I give lessons for electric bass as well as upright bass across many genres including rock, blues, pop, folk, bluegrass, jazz, etc. I work with students on their schedules to develop their skills in playing, theory, notation, sightreading and ear training. I find that the best way to learn an instrument is with a well-rounded balance of technique, articulation, rhythm, space, as well as theory. The notes are everything! I like working with students of all ages, and take a serious interest in your goals and progression. I believe that preparing for a lesson is as much the teacher's responsibility as it is the student's.

Brian is a great teacher, patient and easy going. He's particularly good at applying concepts and techniques in the context of real songs and real music, something I found lacking in previous teachers. Studied with Brian for almost a year now off and on and still learning new stuff every lesson. Also very punctual, reliable and flexible with lessons, no last minute cancellations. Highly recommended.
