Introduction: I have been teaching guitar, saxophone, clarinet, and flute for over ten years. I also have experience teaching music composition, theory, aural skills, and many other things.
As a teacher, my philosophy is to cater the lesson toward the students interests while focusing on the fundamental skills of the instrument they are learning. I try to inspire my students by finding interesting material that they will want to go home and practice. Beyond anything else, music should be a fun experience!
I received a Bachelor of Music in Classical Saxophone Performance with a minor in Jazz Studies from Truman State University located in Kirksville, Missouri. After graduating, I moved to New York City where I received a Master of Music degree in Jazz Studies from New York University.
"Drew is an easy-going guy who relates well to his students. He effectively teaches the basics while helping the student discover their own ability and find joy in playing." -- Laura Mann, parent
