Our experience with Joan has been wonderful. She is very accommodating and scheduling with her is easy and flexible. My husband and I came to her to help transition into family planning as well as help us improve communication. While I have been in therapy before, my husband has not and was a little hesitant. After our first session- he was hooked. She listens with understanding, but ensures to offer different perspectives and strategies. She asks questions that bring to the surface things that can be addressed that we would not have considered on our own. Sometimes our session include exercises, while sometimes we simply talk through certain parts of our life. Not only has our relationship improved, my husband and I are communicating better and more effectively. We plan to continue to see Joan regularly and highly recommend to others looking for a couples therapist.

Talking to Gabriella is like talking to a good friend:). Lorraine hits all the checks of a good therapist; she is warm, open, smart, compassionate, convivial and a great listener. Among the elements that set her apart and make her outstanding are that: she is prepared to sift through lots of chatter without being sidetracked, you can enjoy a relaxed conversation with her and still come back around to what's important, she never loses focus on the issues. I talked with many coaches, therapists, and trainers. Aaron and WellThrive Elite are the best. Aaron helped me so much. He knows a lot about many things and helped me in many areas of my life. It has been an amazing journey. Brent is very smart and sensitive. He has always been present, and never pushed for any "not-ready-yet" process. The conversation can be really deep if you dare to explore; psychotherapy is about challenging yourself for inner awareness and change though, so I've gladly taken that. And most importantly --My words, feelings and emotions were always seen, heard and held (instead of being packed up and thrown away). The procedure of change is so painful and scary, and I've experienced a lot of disconnections before with other therapists, but this did not happen with Brent, and I take this as the most precious part of him. We struggled a little bit at the beginning for a schedule that worked for both of us, considering my REAL crazy working hours, but that's all I can think of (for a semi-complaint). The experience turns out to deserve all the efforts.

Scott has been an invaluable therapist for me for a few years now. I've gained so many strengths and I've been able to make so many changes under his care and counseling. More recently, if it weren't for him, my situation may have eaten me alive and he was there literally every step of the way to make sure that didn't happen. His methods of therapies are wonderful. He's generous, professional, relatable, relaxing, reliable, consistent, and punctual. My favorite, though, is when he's leading into a breakthrough. Dan Minuchin is an outstanding family therapist, mental health consultant, trainer, teacher and clinical supervisor. I have had the fortune of working with him and observing him in all of these roles over the past several years. I initially worked with Dan about 10 years ago when I was a supervisor at agency that provided family therapy and services to families struggling with adolescents and families involved in the juvenile justice and child welfare systems. In this setting, he provided case consultation, supervision, and training to a team of social workers and family therapists. This model included live supervision and the use of a one way mirror. Dan would also accompany therapists on home visits to provide live consultations in the family's home. I later became a director of another similar family service program. I was able to hire Dan to provide Structural Family Therapy training to my entire clinical staff, as well as consultation, individual and group clinical supervision. His guidance and training was very well received by my staff and their skills as family therapists improved significantly. Dan is really a master trainer and has worked as a family therapist, teacher and trainer for several decades. He has an incredibly diverse personal and professional background and experience working with families of all walks of life. He is sensitive and well informed of the needs and experiences of families of color, immigrant families, LGBTQ families, blended families, Jewish Orthodox families, families struggling with substance abuse and mental illness, delinquent teens, children with special needs, and families dealing with divorce, loss and separation. I have referred many families to Dan and I feel confident that he is able to work with the most complex families of all backgrounds. Dan is thoughtful and empathic and has very high ethical standards. His structural and strategic approach to addressing problems is highly effective and families often will see progress in a short amount of time. I am a family therapist and clinician as well, and Dan has provided me with outstanding clinical supervision and guidance and has been instrumental in my own professional growth as a therapist and clinical supervisor.

I've been struggling with anxiety and anger issues since teenage years, and have tried therapy in the past but never stuck with it because I always found myself getting impatient with the therapists or the process. However, Dr Eskalyo slowly but efficiently helps me realize the benefits of psychotherapy, by digging deeper into my subconscious mind. She never makes me feel judged, or pressured. Scheduling is flexible, which works with my crazy work schedule. She's also very cooperative and patient with paperworks for my insurance. I've worked with Abe for the last 6 years - he saved my life - from a metaphorical perspective of having one, being alive, and loving my experience, to a literal one - had things continued as they were before I ran across him (through sheer luck), I could see suicide becoming more and more of a real consideration. Instead, basically, everything's changed for me now - I have boundaries now, know how and when to stand up for them, understand my childhood so much more, get along better with EVERYONE in my life now, and have a path in my life that I love.     I can't recommend this wonderful therapist enough! In 2010 my sons great grandfather passed away at Calvary Hospital after a month of being an in-patient. At that time my sons were 7 and 6 years old and their mental well being after their first family loss was at the top of my priority list. Insert Walesca aka "Wally" who had not only the skill set but the compassion to guide them through their grief. She taught them the skills they need to understand it's okay to feel sadness and just as importantly how to express it. They are now 15 and 14 years old and have suffered many other losses since and have been able to cope because of the skills Wally taught them. Whenever I mention her name a big smile comes across their faces. She truly made grief bearable for them and I am forever grateful to her.

      What is a psychologist?

      How much do therapists cost?

      If you are experiencing a challenging time, have mental health difficulties, or just want professional guidance as you move through life, a therapist can provide relief, tools and structure. The national average cost for a therapist is $80-$100 per hour, although prices may be higher or lower depending on geographic location and the experience and training of the therapist.

      Psychiatrists, psychologists and licensed therapists are all health professionals who offer various modalities of therapy. Ask questions about the type of therapy they specialize in (such as cognitive or behavioral, etc.) and their area of expertise (such as grief, anxiety, body image disorders, etc.) to help you find the right fit for your needs. Therapy sessions are typically 50-60 minutes long.  The patient usually meets with the therapist in their office; sessions may also be held remotely (via Skype, etc.) or in a clinical setting. Psychologists, psychiatrists and other therapists who have earned advanced degrees will typically charge higher rates than other licensed therapists.       Can a clinical psychologist write prescriptions?

      To be able to write a prescription, a clinical psychologist must practice in a state that permits them to do so, and must either have a master’s degree in psychopharmacology or have completed the required advanced training program. According to the American Psychological Association (APA), five states currently permit psychologists to write prescriptions: Idaho, New Mexico, Illinois, Iowa and Louisiana. Many psychologists who are not able to write prescriptions work in partnership with psychiatrists, pediatricians or primary care doctors to help their patients who need medication.
