About

I've been taking voice lessons with Dave for almost a year now, and it's one of the best decisions I've made. I've loved singing my entire life, but I've always felt like I wasn't good enough. It turns out I just needed to tweak my technique. I've definitely improved immensely over the past year, and others (including professional singers) have noticed and complimented me on it as well when I've sang at gigs. I've learned effective warm up techniques, how to control my voice, how my posture and mouth placement are important for my vocals as well, and so much more. He's also very encouraging and patient. I definitely wouldn't sound the way I do today without him. He's given me the confidence to look into performing more in this new year. I'm more motivated than ever to see where my voice can take me and very excited to continue working with him. I was also lucky enough to record a song with him and was able to see what an amazing producer he is as well! Anyone looking for a great, knowledgeable, experienced vocal instructor and producer; look no further! Dave's your man!

About

This guy knows what he's doing. Not just professional, but also courteous, Marty is the best by far. He has an acutely trained ear and takes your training seriously, but will joke around with you for five minutes to loosen you up when you're nervous. I've been taking piano and voice lessons on a whim and have learned more than I'd expected; after twenty-two years singing in the car, Marty helped me finally find my singing voice in two lessons. I can read music now. He teaches music theory with whatever you're learning to build a greater understanding of what you're doing and music in general.

About

Arturo Spinetti is an extraordinarily gifted vocal artist AND teacher. I consider myself very lucky to have received voice lessons from such a knowledgable musician. Mr. Spinetti brought more out of my voice than I ever thought possible and introduced me to opera, a genre I was ignorant of until that point. It soon became my favorite as Mr. Spinetti painstakingly showed me the technique. His kindness, patience and remarkable talent made voice lessons a pleasurable learning experience that has stuck with me years later.

About

I am a Broadway veteran now teaching voice lessons! Let me share with you a bit about me and my performing experiences. I am the first woman of African-American descent to portray the Tony winning role of Carlotta in the longest running show in Broadway history, The Phantom of the Opera, having over 1500 performances to my credit. Some of the Phantoms I've shared the stage with include Colm Wilkinson, Howard McGillin and Hugh Panaro. Most recently, I was featured on the record-breaking PBS Live from Lincoln Center production of Sweeney Todd starring Emma Thompson, Bryn Terfel and Audra McDonald. I appeared in the original companies of the Tony Award winning The Secret Garden, The Sound of Music (first revival original cast) and La Boheme (directed by Baz Luhrmann), and I can be heard on all three original cast recordings on DreamWorks, Columbia and RCA Victor. I created the role of Peaches in the US Premier of Jerry Springer the Opera at Carnegie Hall. I portrayed the title role of Motherbone at Playwrights Horizons, and I appeared in Lost in the Stars at City Centre's "Encores!" Series. I bring more than 20 years of teaching experience, having taught at many different schools and many different levels including NYU's Tisch School of the Arts in the New Studio on Broadway, Carnegie Mellon University, New Jersey City University, Point Park College, and The Hun School in Princeton, to name a few. I have conducted master classes at high schools and universities and with many Broadway training programs including Broadway Artists Intensive in West Palm Beach, Florida. My Teaching Philosophy Every singer is unique. I assess each student's individual style of learning to develop a customized plan of study. Gaining a solid technical foundation through science and anatomy, we will learn to discover and coordinate your breath as we add pitches and rhythms to unleash your most beautiful and expressive sound. This technical command will translate into confidence and finesse while performing and will serve you in any style including musical theatre, classical, pop and jazz, and on any stage. What to Bring to Your Lesson Bring sheet music in a three-ring binder, a pencil, a bottle of water and a recording device (any smartphone or tablet with a microphone will do). Do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions you may have, and I thank you for spending some time with me.

About

I'm Sebastián, professional ballet dancer from Chile. I've been studying singing for a bit more than a year. I came to Greg because I had an ugly episode of reflux, which triggered several problems in my voice. I tried to get better on my own for some months but progress was very slow. After I had my first lesson with him my voice started feeling a lot more consistent, free and strong. My sound is getting better and singing is getting easier by the day. Greg is an incredible teacher and I'm glad I found him, I totally recommend taking classes with him.

About

Helped me improve my pitch and my range. Mick is from Britain and has a very calm and patient attitude, a real English "gentleman". Most coaches I've worked with know very little about singing, they just provide accompaniment but Mick, being a vocalist himself, understands the physical and emotional trials singers go through. In all, my lessons with Mick were very enjoyable. Terry A Read.

I have been taking private voice lessons from Lauren for about 6 months. In that short amount of time, I really feel, for the first time, I am truly learning valuable tools and training my voice. Lauren is insightful, intelligent, talented, patient and most importantly, she truly cares about her students. She is a GEM!

Charles is very knowledgeable with music. He can play almost anything and is very good at improvising, technique, and fingering. He also is patient with students not on his level and is well versed in Classical, Jazz, and Blues. I take lessons at home which is very convenient. I definitely would recommend Charles to anyone wanting piano lessons or a future with music.

About

I work with Peter in several capacities. One of Peter's strengths is that he is an exception teacher. He has been working with me for the past year an a half on songwriting which involves lyrics and music. Recently we have increased the songwriting instruction to include the computer software "Logic". Peter gives all during these lessons. It is not just a job to him that cuts off when the clock reaches a certain time. Peter is genuine, in that he is teaching me to be the best songwriter that I can be. Peter has also produced and directed several special programs at Third Church. Peter is committed to excellence in demanding the best out of the performers, sound, lighting, and all involved with these programs. Each program was a delight to the audience and to the Church. In another capacity, Peter is mentoring me in the role of producer for events at the Church. He has given me pointers with selecting the program, sound, lighting, and selecting performers. Peter taught a seminar at one of the weekend Summits at Third Church which overflowed with attendance. He made the seminar fun and inspirational as well as gave each person tools to where they could make immediate improvements. Watchfire Music is a fabulous tool for selecting solo music for Church services and special events. Peter has done a great job in constructing this website. Both his talent of creativity and eye for detail has worked hand in hand in making this tool a success.

About

Music is a wonderful way to gain a new skill, build confidence and maybe just bring your family together with the family heirloom piano that has been collecting dust! As a vocalist, I have played leading roles in productions such as A Chorus Line, Children of Eden, various opera performances such as Amahl and the Night Visitors, The Ballad of Baby Doe and Hansel and Gretel, as well as performing with a jazz ensemble and rock band! I have performed in New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Boston, at PNC Bank Arts Center, and many other places around the country. As a pianist, I have played with bands and accompanied students in a variety of scenarios. As a technique focused voice teacher, I diagnose vocal issues, help to choose and develop appropriate repertoire, prepare for higher education in music and feel comfortable in singing out in public in any situation. With over 15 years of singing experience, over 6 years of vocal teaching experience and holding a BA in vocal music, I can work with you to develop your natural ability to sing. I believe strongly in building a strong foundation of healthy singing practices so that you or your child can enjoy singing for a lifetime. Currently a long time student of Steven Schnurman, I work to develop vocal technique in my students so that they may sing any genre they choose. Building a basic foundation of technique is the most important aspect of vocal study for a student who is beginning to sing at any age. I work hard to bring out the beauty and ease in my student's voice. Classically trained for a number of years in piano, and having studied piano as a secondary instrument while acquiring my BA, I work with students of all ages. I believe that anyone can play piano with the right teacher. Starting with building basic levels of note reading and keyboard competence, I work with piano students to develop strong, independent reading and improvisational skills. Students are encouraged to play the music that they want to once they have developed the skills that they need to do so successfully. Current students play styles ranging from classical and jazz to rock, pop, blues and more. References are available upon request. Email me above for more information, or just visit my website below.

About

I believe that anyone can be taught to sing! Come and let me teach you how to sing with a healthy and open sound. I start with a classical foundation and build a voice from the ground up. The first 1/2 - 3/4 of each lesson is spent warming up and doing strength building and stretching exercises for your vocal chords, of course! While the last part is typically spent on repertoire, I like to refer to my lessons as personal training for the vocal chords. I will work with any age, except that lessons for children under the age of 12 are modified to be more of a vocal coaching and musicality class than a voice lesson. I am looking forward to hearing from you!
