Douglas P. says, "Tom was very responsive and quick to answer my call with a quote up front for the work to replace a pressure valve on my water heater which, initially I felt was a plus.
The down side was that he completed the work and I paid him for the him for the job but it wasn't until then told me, after the fact, that he noticed my water heater was 15 years old and needed replacement because it could go at any time and that he could do it for a very fair price. I agreed to have him do the work.
So essentially I paid him for a job and brand new part that was taken away the very next day....I feel I threw away money on a brand new Valve and labor that could have been avoided had I been told first about the water heater.
The second thing that did not set well with me that, in the middle of the water replacement job he texted me asking for $800 in cash to "pay his guy" but I could pay him the balance of the job with a check. I felt this was a bit odd and wasn't happy that I had to make a special trip to the bank to withdraw cash.
Again, AFTER the water heater had been replaced and the work was done and they were paid, he told me that he noticed the pressure valve which controls the water from the street to the house was bad and was about to go and needed to be replaced.
He told me he would let me know the cost of the part, but that he could get it for a fair price.
This time, I did not say "Yes, lets do it. but the very next afternoon his guy shows up at my door to do the work.
By this time I really felt taken advantage of, particularly since he had just cashed both the first and the second check right after I had withdrawn $800 in case to pay his guys and before I could transfer money from savings and resulted in overdraft fees from the bank.
Granted the work was done seems to be very high quality and they were very responsive. But I have to say that my experience with they way they conduct business was not, in my view, professional and left a negative feeling with me."See more
