Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I really don't think of teaching tap as a "job" per se, but more as an opportunity to introduce more fun into people's lives. I can't tell you how many adults I've met who have said to me, "I've wanted to learn to tap dance since I was a kid. One of these days I'll get around to taking lessons." It is not a job, but a pleasure to have the opportunity to introduce people to the joy of tapping! I love showing people just how easy tap dance can be, and how it is not only a total blast, but a great way to workout without even realizing it!

I've only had the pleasure of taking one formal tap class with Lara, but I've received her choreography on a handful of occasions, all of which furthered my dance skills by leaps and bounds. She always used our time to its fullest (and was very patient with our various amounts of previous experience, to which she catered perfectly). Having taken lesson/choreography from Lara since junior high school, I'm happy to say she's always treated me and my peers like young professionals, which was particularly conducive to learning the most I could every session. Like several of Lara's students, I am now enrolled at a performing arts School pursuing a BFA in Drama. She's seen her students sent to Pace and New York University in NYC and Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh just to name a few. I can confidently say we all owe our success in part to Lara, for her support in the classroom, and as importantly, as a presence in our day-to-day lives. An incredibly talented mother of an equally talented triple-threat of a son (and my best friend), Lara has so much to offer it will be a challenge to contain it in a Tap Lesson! I thank Lara for her guidance and instruction. I'm thrilled to see new students will have the same opportunities I did!

I grew up dancing at the legendary Louis de Pron tap studio. During my musical theater career I met Lara and was blown away by her perfect and clean technique. It had been a while since I had studied but I took her class and she made me feel so comfortable and safe. She is one of these special individuals that is just so much fun to be around. More importantly, she is an AWESOME teacher and helped me improve some steps that I use to really struggle with (i.e. wings and pull-backs). Thanks to her masterful teaching I gained new freedom in my work and was able to even book a show that involved tap-dancing! I highly recommend Lara whether you're a beginner or professional, young or in a later season of life. You will get the best instructions from a fantastic and reliable gal.

Lara has danced, acted, sung, and choreographed professionally for me. She has also taught classes and private tap lessons to my students. I directed her as "Sally" in Santa Barbara Children's Theatre's productions of "Your A Good Man, Charlie Brown." She was also hired as dance captain and choreographer. I directed her in Opera Santa Barbara's 'Pirates of Penzance" where she sang and danced. She choreographed not only whole musicals, but she has also come in as a specialist to choreograph specific tap dances in shows. I have watched her teach. She is wonderful. Patient, kind, firm, and talented. I highly recommend her. Any student would be lucky to have her.

I choreographed Lara Hollaway in a 2010 production of "Cabaret". We worked together for 3 months and we have been dear friends and fellow artists ever since. Lara is the ultimate professional in every word...that is what impressed me. From her amazing time management skills, to her ability to take on leadership positions, to her incredible knowledge of her art (particularly tap). I would work with Lara Hollaway in a heartbeat again and again and would recommend her as a tap teacher to anyone who needed one!

My son, not a trained dancer, worked with Lara to improve his tap skills while rehearsing for a high school production. I was amazed by what he was able to learn and the confidence that Lara instilled in him. It made all the difference!
