Andrea Niccolai Music Education

Introduction: Ciao a tutti! I'm Andrea Niccolai, italian drummer, music teacher and event manager based in Brooklyn, NY. I've been playing and performing live music for 15 years now, I started on the piano at first and few years after that I fell in love with the drums, a relationship that got me travelling all around the world and eventually brought me to NY. I hold a BA in Jazz Drums at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague (NL), as well as a Master's degree in Jazz Performance at SUNY Purchase, where I had the opportunity to study with the modern master of Jazz drumming, the great Kenny Washington. In addition to being an active performer in the NYC music scene, I'm also an educator. I have 7 years of private teaching experience to all levels and ages, I had also the opportunity to work as a drum instructor at SUNY Purchase to non-music major students and I'm currently employed as part of the faculty at Music Beans, one of the best school in New York City specialized in teaching music to children. My goal both as an educator and as a performer is to make my client/student 100% happy, the drums have always been my source of joy and freedom therefore I want to communicate that feeling and experience to my students and to the people I can reach with my music. The last thing I want to mention in this long introduction is that during this past year I've started organizing online events and masterclasses together with two colleagues of mine. We ended up creating a non-profit organization called "Social Music Cafè", through this platform we organized events and masterclasses featuring the finest jazz musicians of our time, such as: Benny Green, Peter Bernstein, George Cables, Eric Alexander, Joe Farnsworth and more..
