Introduction: I make it a point to go above and beyond in working with my students, whether it's answering their questions or helping them in purchasing a new instrument. I get excited when the student is able to do something that they weren't able to previously. I love seeing the progress of those I teach.

One word that I can best describe Paul is: Inspiring. I believe that in order to be a good musician, performer, worshipper and especially teacher, one must be inspiring. Paul humbly has this attribute in all these areas. Even if you are not a worshipper yet, you will be inspired if you witness how he worships on the drums with his profound music talents. Paul is gifted in both playing and teaching music. The first time I sat in one of his classes, he was patiently teaching little kids how to drum. He has also been very patient and helpful towards me with my drumming. Although I understand the fundmental truth that I can do anything when I put my mind to it. The struggle has always been putting my mind to it. With Paul's help and practicing consistently, I have already improved within a short period of time. By his teaching and support along with my improvements, he has turned me into a believer. Thank you for your inspirations and effective lessons, Paul, and always doing so with a smile. :O)

Paul is a drummer, but he surely knows his guitar! When I approached him about my youngest daughter, a 5-year-old, who is interested in learning the guitar, he set out to work, without hesitation, to find the right instrument (a baritone ukulele) and then he developed a curriculum to help a young child that has no musical background to play. What I discovered was that Paul did not just teach my daughter to play an instrument, he is helping her lay a foundation in the fundamentals of music theory and rhythm. He follows up a lesson with a personalized video to help the parents and the child to recall what was covered in the prior lesson. This way we as parents can help our young children in between lessons. Paul has the passion and gift for teaching, and it just shows! I highly recommend Paul to anyone, young and old, as their music teacher.

I took drum lessons from Paul for over 10 years and can honestly say that he is one of the most gifted, intuitive, and dedicated drum teachers you will find. He is not only passionate about the craft of drumming but also strives to communicate the concepts in the most clear and understandable way. When I began learning from Paul, I was 8 years old; and naturally, at that age, couldn't easily pick up on a lot of the lingo typically used to train an older student. Paul still willingly and excitedly took on the challenge, however, and worked with me through each phase of growth, adapting his teaching method to meet me at my level, all the way until I left for college. My years of training with Paul developed in me a passion for music that led me to pursue it through college. Thus, my senior year of high school, I auditioned to attend a private university in Virginia and received a full-tuition music scholarship. Upon graduating with a music degree, I moved to Nashville to pursue drumming full-time and have been blessed with the opportunity to drum on a number of national tours and Nashville sessions. My training with Paul has given me invaluable tools to face each musical situation with preparation and poise, and his mentorship continues to challenge me to be a better musician and a better student of my craft.

Paul is a great drum teacher. You'll be hard-pressed to find a more suitable drum teacher for yourself or your child. Not only does he have a good grasp of time and rhythm, he is by far the most patient music instructor I've come across. In the three month period my child took drum lessons with Paul, I was very happy to see how he discovered a new found sense of rhythm. I've also had the pleasure of sitting in on a few group sessions and was quite impressed with how Paul was able to innovatively calm and motivate even the rowdiest of children. As he does not heavily advertise himself, I feel very fortunate to have been introduced to Paul. I hope more people out there will have the opportunity to learn with him. Paul truly is a hidden gem in a sea of drum/music instructors.

Paul teaches my son who has the attention span of about 5 minutes or less, so how do they conquer a 30 minute class? Paul invented these notes with animal faces on them, so instead of counting numbers (rhythm), my son counts "alligator, monkey, monkey, pig", etc. In short, Paul is detail oriented, patient, kind and encouraging toward the youngsters, for the adults, (a few of us and our kids are taught by Paul) he is thorough in answering questions and clear on his instructions to his students. Oh, most importantly, he is a pretty cool drummer/musician (you gotta see him in action)!
