FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First I like to find out what the new student wants to accomplish musically. I'll listen to them play and evaluate their strengths and weaknesses. I'll find out what they need to study to develop and grow as a musician. The lessons will be based around their interests and the goals they'd like to achieve.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have had extensive experience as a drum instructor/music educator. I was on the faculty at the Stanford Jazz Workshop in California, Jazz for Pre-teens and Teens at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, NJ, Sisters in Jazz Program at the International Association of Jazz Educators, Guest Director for Sisters in Jazz Program at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. and clinician at the Xinghai International Jazz Festival and Jazz Higher Education Forum in Guangzhou, China. I've given clinics at universities throughout U.S. and Europe. In 2014 I earned my B.A. in Jazz Performance at Empire State University. I've also been teaching privately in my home studio for many years.
