Among other things: (i) the hardwood floors had major water damage and had to be repaired; (ii) the kitchen counter, cabinets, sink and appliances were left in an appalling condition and had to be replaced; (iii) the bathtub had to be reglazed, and the shower head, medicine cabinet and WC fittings replaced; (iv) the closets had to be repaired; and (v) all the walls, ceilings, doors and windows had to be sanded, repaired and repainted.Having experienced some awful situations with NYC contractors in the past, I was extremely anxious about getting the job done -- especially given the fact that I do not live in New York and could not, therefore, personally supervise the work.KOLA was recommended to me by my real estate agent. Right from our first meeting, Fadjol was extremely polite and responsive to my needs. The work was done to a high professional standard and in a very timely manner. His advice regarding how to achieve high quality without breaking my bank was particularly valuable and I am very satisfied with the end result.What I also really appreciated was the fact that Fadjol was always willing to go the extra mile (sometimes at no additional charge) and help with unexpected problems that arose during the course of the work. Aurel and my company contracted to have the front of our brownstone painted as well as a basement finish. This was back in March of 2020. He was supposed to be finished by May, after COVID he changed his deadline to July. We were more than accommodating. By July it was not complete. He would fail to arrive at the job and had to be continuously contacted. It is now October. Aurel has stated he is leaving to Albania to do a job out there and will be abandoning our work. The front of the building was NEVER started and the basement had some demo work and framing and is now a mess. What’s more, he was thousands of dollars for work he never completed and has refused to return the money even though we are willing to contract another person. He has completely ignored calls and text messages. Our next step is legal action. Do not hire this company. They will not be responsible and have effectively left us with a destroyed basement and several thousand dollars in the hole in the midst of COVID.
