Introduction: I've been teaching a while, and have a feeling for what individual students need at the moment and finding ways to teach what's most needed at that moment. I love meeting people from all walks of life - all who drawn to dance for different reasons, but who ultimately share a common love of the art form once they become immersed in it.

I've danced with the lovely Almyra for more than 10 years now! I admired her dancing from afar at a salsa event and approached her to inquire about classes. She was very sweet and told me about her classes. Her specialty is Ladies styling, but is also extremely creative when it comes to partnerwork and group choreography as well. I started taking classes with her and eventually joined her performing dance team. Almyra is not only an AMAZING dancer, she is very approachable, has a heart of gold, and makes dancers of all levels comfortable and welcome. If you are even considering taking classes with her, hesitate no longer, I promise you will be inspired, improve your dancing, have lots of fun and probably gain a wonderful friend.

Being able to do something well is one thing, being able to transmit that knowledge to someone else takes a whole different set of skills. Almyra does them both very well. She is a beautiful, graceful, salsa dancer and she has the knowledge, patience, and pedagogy to teach it to others. Love her classes, she always makes them FUN. Highly recommend Almyra. I have performed in Almyra's student team three times, and I have taken her styling class as well. I cannot learn from a teacher who expects her students to learn just by watching. I need a good explanation of movements along with the demonstration. Almyra has given all that for me with patience. Her description such as "Move your fingers and hands as if you are scraping the melted chocolate from the bowl" gives me the "Ah-ha!" that I need to fully understand a particular move. We all know that not all great dancers can teach, but in the case of Almyra, she does both wonderfully with her talent and quality she delivers.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Private classes (hourly): $70 plus price of studio (at home studio in Midtown) $90 for travel to student location within Manhattan or 15 minutes from Midtown. Group classes: Between $15 and $25 per hour depending on level and purpose of class. Beginner classes are usually $15 for an hour, or $20 for 1.5 hours.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I think it's necessary to always train in new forms and techniques to avoid getting in a rut psychologically and physically. Keeps mind and body in better shape. I love to take classes and learn techniques from other dance forms such as Samba, Flamenco, Argentine Tango, Hip Hop, Afro-Caribbean and African dance forms ... it would be bliss if learning all these dances was my job:)
How did you get started doing this type of work?
When you find something you love, you do what you can to do it as much as possible!! Dreams are dreams the most when you chase 'em!
