Awesome teacher, he just jumps right in with you. Our first class I learned the basics of drums, names of each, some drum rudiments and then we went through some songs I liked and played along with the music. The lesson was fun, Mike is super easy going and provides lots of good feedback.
I've been taking lessons with Tad for over 3 years and I played my first show a few months ago! Tad is a thorough, seasoned instructor and gives you the tools to learn to play the kit quickly, while making sure you're disciplined about your technique. If I had taken lessons from one of the popular drum schools, I might have messed around for a bit, lost focus and stopped. Tad motivates you to build the skills to be a serious drummer and supports you in what is, essentially, a long-term project. He even suggests shows, open mics, and drummer gigs for you to check out so that you're fully immersed in the process. Also, being able to practice in his studio on his amazing kit has made a huge difference in the quality of my practice. If you're serious about playing the drums and want to get up to speed fast without sacrificing technique, I definitely recommend choosing Tad as a teacher.
David's a great teacher! I'm a total novice to both drums and playing music, and he's done a great job explaining to me how things work and what I need to know in order to play well. His lessons and homework assignments keep me advancing at a solid pace - not too fast and not too slow. I was very nervous to play at first, but he's encouraging and supportive, and he makes it fun, so every lesson I leave feeling a little more confident. I recommend him to anyone, no matter their skill level!
My son takes drum lessons from Rob and I can't recommend him enough. He is a professional drummer and a professional teacher who has inspired my son to play and practice! Aside from being a patient, engaging and very talented teacher, he has the unique ability to make drum lessons both fun and productive.
Fun drum lesson. Plus I learned a lot in only an hour. I'm going to continue taking lessons.
Devin is the best music teacher I ever had! He is really smart, he listened to me and quickly knew what I had to work on in order to improve my playing. After only 3 lessons I feel that I'm already playing in another level and it's because he really focused on my weakeness and gave me the exercices and tools to improve. I want to be playing drums all day now! I really recommend Devin if you want to improve without wasting your time and money!
Dustin has been giving my 7 year old drum lessons for 2 years, he's great with my son, patient, talented and always on time. I can't recommend him high enough!
I'm an older musician who hired Marco to help me develop jazz skills in the tradition of bebop. I could not have been luckier in finding Marco. First off, and differently than most instructors I've worked with, Marco stayed very concerned with what exactly I was looking for (specific techniques on specific drums), but also with my more general goal - which was to develop my skills to the point I am confident to take the stage w/unknown musicians playing unknown tunes. He loaded my Ipod with bebop essentials, and best of all, something I did not even know to request, he insisted on helping me develop my brushwork, which has already paid in ways I never anticipated!! As far as criticism? His personal dedication to his craft bled into the lessons to the point things could become uncomfortable (I'm in my mid 50's - my personal music career rides in the back seat; my family and my job are up front). But how bad is it to have a teacher that seems to eat/drink/sleep his craft?!

I hired Peter for advanced drum lessons. My lessons are bi-weekly and at times weekly. Its been 3 months since my initial lesson. I initially sought after drum lessons to help improve my skills in fills, timing, and to increase my foundation in Jazz, rock and Latin drumming. I found my accomplishments under Peters guidance to surpass my expectations. Peter is a patient teacher. He encourages you not to give up. His home teaching setup is efficient and the environment is conducive to learning. Peter is friendly so you won't feel nervous or uncomfortable during the lesson. At times when Im stuck on learning a new a new technique, he offers good suggestion that actually work to help me level up. I have a busy schedule (like all of us). Peter is flexible and patient. He is always willing to accommodate his lessons to my schedule, learning style and goals I would like to accomplish. I recommend lessons with Peter to drummers (beginners to advanced) who appreciate effective teaching and value results.
I hired Mr. Ripley to give introductory percussion lessons to my 12 year old son who has expressed interest in pursuing the arts. We have had 5 sessions with Mr. Ripley and my son is very pleased with the way he tries to teach what he has interest in. Mr. Ripley connects with his students in a very effective manner that urges them to strive for what they enjoy doing. In just these 5 lessons my son has gone from knowing very little about drums to a adequate basic understand of percussion. Although I may fear loud drumsets in our basement in the future, I feel confident that Mr. Ripley has expressed how important it is to do what you love when it comes to the arts. For that, I am very grateful.
Having beginning lessons with him and enjoying it and learning. He's knowledgeable and personable. Highly recommend.

I am a performer and teacher with 15 years of drum experience. I am currently the drummer for a popular band called The Stumblebum Brass Band, as well as a freelance in other projects and I love to teach. I teach drums and percussion specifically geared towards mastering the drum set. I have learned from the greats including Andrew Cyrille, Nasheet Waits, Bob Gullotti and many disciples of the Alan Dawson school of percussion. Alan, the teacher of Tony Williams among others, taught how to become interdependent between all 4 limbs to utilize the drumset to the fullest. I am able to teach all styles including jazz, rock, blues, funk, punk, latin, classical, while invoking this method. I will give you the skills you need to read music and use written music in your own practice in order to make you a great drummer. I am unique in that I am patient, encouraging and serious about teaching drums and music.
