Introduction: Welcome to my page! My name is Hillary and I would love to work with you. I’ve been playing violin since I was 8 years old and have been teaching since I was 14. Raised in Miami, I played under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas at the New World Symphony as part of the youth side-by-side and was selected yearly into the Miami Honors Orchestra. I moved to New York City to attend the College of the Performing Arts at the New School University to pursue my passion for music. My background is mainly in classical music but I have explored different mediums and have a wide range of violin techniques and equipment that modernize violin playing. I am also an avid songwriter and a singer. As a patient teacher who enjoys the growth of her students, I look forward to teaching you and watch you reach your musical goals!

Very down to earth. Phenomenal teacher. I’m Constantly growing and learning. She did not only taught me how to play but she also fixed my violin strings when it broke. She goes above and beyond for her students. I will continue taking lessons from her and hopefully one day I will be as good as her.

I took violin lessons with Hillary to learn how to play the violin and learned so much in a short time! She was super patient with me and very thorough. She payed close attention to my playing and focused on where I needed improvements. Hillary was professional as well as pleasant, dividing each lesson between technique and musicality. I let her know what I wanted to learn and she taught me based on my learning style. I unfortunately had to stop taking lessons because I relocated, but I would highly recommend Hillary to anyone wanting to play the violin! Her teaching method makes it simple for anyone to learn!

Hillary is a fantastic violin teacher. She taught me when she lived here in Miami and I was so sad to see her go! She would come to my school and teach the students as an assistant to our orchestra director. Everybody loved her and she heard many of us play our first notes. If you want to learn violin, go ahead and hire her!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I begin with a consultation into what it is that the person wants to learn. Are you looking to learn the violin as a whole or are you looking to learn this cool solo from this song? There are lots of different perspectives when it comes to learning something new and I will never push anybody to learn something they do not feel passionate about.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I went to the College of Performing Arts at the New School University and learned that violin is not only classical. I am very open to different genres.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Mostly children and teenagers, but I love it when a person who simply has lots of time on their hands approaches me for lessons.
