Introduction: I love my work. It's thrilling to see singers open and transform from lesson to lesson. Sometimes results are fast, startling and dramatic! It's great to work one on one with my students and be able to go into depth. Last but, not least, I get to work with music and hear singers sing!

I've been taking lessons with Dori for a little over a month and I am utterly blown away by the progress we have made. Dori is not just a gifted singer and teacher - she's an intuitive. She knows exactly what her students are looking for and her methods encourage the student to find their own voice and style. Being that her lessons are in the privacy and comfort of her beautiful home, the environment is warm and nurturing. You may come as you are and leave with more confidence about yourself. I've sang in chorus in my "youth" and in "adulthood" in church choirs as I do now. I decided I really wanted to learn how to sing and improve on the voice that I was given. Dori continues to help me do that. I've been studying with her for over a year. As a singing hobbyist, I am working on solo performances outside of my participation in the choir. It is a joy to have voice lessons with Dori. She is very personal and serious about helping me to create and futher develop my unique voice. She has an extensive song library and many resources to draw from that are helpful to me as a student. Another thing I truly enjoy about Dori is her robust approach to vocal exercises. Her exercises really open up the vocal chords tremendously. Dori is a delightful voice coach with a sence of humour and a wealth of experience to impart. A Pure Joy!

I found Dori online and her extensive jazz background, philosophies and techniques were EXACTLY what I needed! She has helped me to overcome performance anxiety, taught me breath-control techniques, and has been there during my musical transition from "in the closet and just for friends" performer to booking gigs and planning events featuring my music. Dori is an excellent teacher and I recommend her to anyone who is passionate about jazz and wants to expand their range and deepen their style. She is an excellent listener and her lessons are so enjoyable! I look forward to my weekly sessions.

Check out websites and student testimonials. Look for how many years of experience the teacher has and specializations. Is it important to you to work with a voice teacher who also performs? You might want to listen to the teacher's music online and check out YouTube videos. Not all voice teachers are alike so pick up the phone and give a call, ask questions and get a feel for the teacher by phone instead of email. Good luck!

Not all voice teachers are alike! It shouldn't be all about rates. Find out who we are, how we teach, are we also performers? What's our specialty? A teacher with a lot of experience can often get the job done sooner and more efficiently than one without.
