Hi I’m David Kahn, the owner of Applied Mathematics Design LLC, an interior design and custom furniture studio based in Brooklyn, NY.
As a designer and builder, I'm comfortable wearing many hats and managing projects with various tradesmen. My team and I focus on bespoke furniture and wall finishes.

David built a custom banquette for my Chelsea apartment, and I couldn’t be happier with the result. I changed my mind more than once throughout the process, and he stayed patient, professional, and solution-oriented. He offered smart ideas but never pushed beyond my vision.
He was clear and consistent in his communication, showed up when he said he would, and adapted quickly when plans shifted. The final product is beautiful and exactly what I hoped for.
David is casual in style but serious about the work. If you’re looking for someone reliable, respectful, and skilled, I strongly recommend hiring him.

David was an amazing find for my fiancée and I. We both WFH and were struggling with our office setup and wanted an ergonomic built in and modern solution. David helped us every step of the way, from designing the desk setup with me, to measuring everything, and even providing additional out of scope builds such as a hatch so that we can access the aircon/heater. The craftsmanship was second to none and we love our new office setup. I will definitely be working with David in the future on other projects and can’t recommend him enough.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I focus on delivering high quality design and construction at competitive prices. Because I have close relationships with various studios, we work on coming up with options that truly satisfy the needs of the client.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Consultation and preliminary design process is free so I highly recommend starting your project by conversing with me. I can help point you in the right direction. Once we agree on a design, I rough out a quote and finalize the design. Construction and Delivery take about 1-2 weeks typically. I once built a bar 2 weeks after the first call.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have experience working in multiple furniture design companies, construction and architecture firms and have B.S. in Industrial Design from Thomas Jefferson University.
Throughout my creative career, I have established great relationships with fabrication studios and fellow designers.
