FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am part of an advanced group, DMC that meets weekly to discuss fitness, nutrition, sports and related topics to helping improve the lives of our clients and build healthier communities.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I got into this field back when I was 15. My dad was big into strength and conditioning and training athletes, so I learned a lot from him. I have also been studying in school, exercise physiology and related topics. My biggest impact into this line of work was John Davies, founder of Renegade Training and DMC. He has been my mentor for 10 years and has been providing me with an excellent career path that allows me to make a difference in my community and truly help others. I also am frustrated with the current trends within the health and fitness industry, it is a shame what it has become. I want my company to become a beacon within the industry, the leader of what it should mean to be in this industry. No longer should people be focusing on lifting weights in the gym, but what they can do during their daily life activities to truly start living a healthy lifestyle, which is something the industry does not care about, they only care about selling gym memberships.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Always ask the individual if they are active in their everyday life. Do they play sports, do they commute to the grocery store via bicycle? Do they truly live a healthy lifestyle, or are they just another trainer that tells you to lift a weight and makes you sweat. Just because an individual is "certified" does not mean much in this industry, anyone can take an online test and pass it over the weekend.
