At the Body Lab, we use the same laboratory analyzers found in universities and medical lab settings that actually measure how many calories you are burning and whether those calories are coming from fat or carbohydrates. We measure the calories your body burns at rest to determine your daily requirements rather than rely on a typical "one-size-fits-all" chart that may be off by as much as 800 calories per day! We also measure the calories you burn during exercise and whether those calories are coming from fat or carbohydrates. Most people that work out on a treadmill or other piece of cardio equipment do it with the idea that burning calories is the same as burning fat. Wrong! Your body burns fat and carbohydrates. The key is to determine the level of intensity at which your body burns the most fat and then spend the most time training at that level. They say with age comes wisdom, I would like to think at 46 I have accumulated a lot! In February of 2017 I left my full time job. After 15+ years building a career I recognized that I was not following my heart and I was left feeling unfulfilled on so many levels. It was clear I was not taking care of myself as my health was beginning to suffer with my PCOS condition manifesting in elevated blood pressure and fasting blood sugar nearing prediabetes. I have changed my eating habits, started exercising more, and discovered the right supplementation to nourish my body. I am taking time to feed my soul as well, and have embarked on a journey I call Mindful Midlife. I couldn’t be more thrilled to embrace my deepest purpose, inspiring others to lead healthier lives. I have joined the incredible and talented team at the Fitness Artist and couldn’t be prouder to represent a unique training studio that puts the “personal” into personal training.
