Denise M. says, "The customer support staff at StookU have been exceptional. When I have a problem, they are quick to respond with a solution, they give timely reminders, help with tech problems (though it's always on my end), take care of scheduling issues and are extremely courteous and thorough in all the services they provide. The company itself provides vocal and instrumental lessons and mentoring. They are a young company and relatively small, though expanding, and everything that I've seen so far - from their coaches and mentors to the sites/platforms, which foster a great community feeling, to the aforementioned customer service - have been well thought out, helpful and effective."See more

Brad M. says, "I started lessons with Anthony in December. Throughout my life I have had 3 guitar teachers before him, for as long as a year, and have never been better than I am right now (this is also in half the session time as previous teachers had me start with 1hr sessions). For the first time in my life I am confident to say "I play guitar," despite having started lessons when I was still in elementary school! His knowledge of the guitar, calm demeanour and method of teaching have me more comfortable than ever with a guitar in my hands. I'm confident transitioning between chords, as well as barre chords for the first time in my life! Oh, and now I can read music! Within the first month I was already able to start picking up and learning a few songs and now I can play most songs that I try to learn, picking up the chord progressions rather simply for most songs I attempt. Right now we are still progressing to get better each week, learning cool finger techniques and scales! After just a small time with Anthony I've developed a love and passion for playing the guitar, which has turned into an almost therapeutic experience right in the palm of my hands! Can't say enough good things about Anthony, and if your on the fence then I would say don't wait, start as soon as you can! You will be glad you did as right from day 1, Anthony will leave you amazed with what he can teach you!"See more

Sia A. says, "I almost talked myself out of taking singing lessons because I wasn’t sure if I could really learn online as a beginner. I’m so glad I decided to give it a chance. Ivory has been incredibly patient, encouraging, and easy to learn from, and she made me feel comfortable from the very first lesson. What I really enjoy is how she breaks down vocal technique into things I can actually understand and practice. We’ve worked on my pitch, breathing, vocal control, and singing different songs, and I’m starting to feel much more confident with my voice. The lessons don’t feel rushed or overly structured either Ivory adjusts them based on what I need to work on. The free first lesson was also a great way to see if the teaching style was right for me before committing. Being able to take online singing lessons around my schedule has made it much easier to stay consistent. I’m really happy I decided to invest in myself and start singing lessons with Ivory. It’s been such an enjoyable experience so far!"See more

Xiaojie W. says, "The teacher has a very professional and well-structured teaching system. Each lesson is clearly organized with specific goals and steady progression. In terms of bass technique, the instruction is detailed and thorough — from fundamental finger positioning and tone control to rhythm stability. The teacher also places strong emphasis on groove and musical understanding, helping the student not only learn how to play, but truly understand how to perform. The pace of each lesson is well balanced: attentive to detail while still encouraging independent thinking and musical expression. Under the teacher’s guidance, the student has shown clear improvement in rhythmic consistency, tone control, and overall musicality. A truly dedicated, knowledgeable, and responsible instructor."See more

Rob Diamond says, "Our daughter has been taking piano lessons for years with Maria, and we are very happy with her progress. There are many different options for lessons including in person and by Zoom, which is helpful for schedule flexibility purposes. Maria is the perfect teacher for our daughter: she is complimentary for the good moments but tough on laziness. We highly recommend NYC Piano Academy."See more

From George G.

Antoine
Antoine
Antoine literally biked it all the way from Bushwick to Harlem to teach me a private course! He listened to me and to my needs and started giving me tutorials on how to start playing guitar for the first time. I'm not kidding when I say that I can now understand how to read chords (with just one lesson) and can play some (very simple) songs just by looking for them online. Looking forward to more classes with him!

James Wengrow Guitar Lessons
James Wengrow Guitar Lessons
After placing an ad for a private lessons guitar teacher a couple of months ago, I narrowed my choices down to two potential teachers. James Wengrow was one of the teachers and after meeting him for a free trial first lesson (which he generously offered) there was no doubt in my mind that he was a good fit for me.

First of all, James is very professional. I asked for daytime, weekday lessons and he offered me time slots that were in alignment with that request. James arrived on time and prepared to teach. He asked me questions about my musical background, goals for taking lessons, musical preferences, and musical knowledge. He listened carefully to me and responded thoughtfully without any attitude or haughtiness.

James is an educated and well trained musician (he studied, played professionally and taught extensively in his home country of Australia before moving to NYC last year), but he never rubs that in your face. He has a lovely humility about him which I believe is part of what makes him, such a good teacher, especially for beginners like myself. However, he is also good at keeping me focused. As a stay at home mom with a toddler, I am grateful for James's style, as he is sort of a gentle task master who is sensitive to the dynamics of a private lesson.
He is also great with the more practical aspects of lessons, like communicating, (text, email, phone, etc.) scheduling, etc.

So far, I have been very pleased with our lessons. The only thing I wish for is more time to practice!

If you have any questions pertaining to James Wengrow's services, please feel free to reach out to him directly for my phone number or email address. I live in Manhattan and would be happy to serve as his reference.
