FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I began taking private voice lessons around age 13 and fell in love with singing. My mother raised me with her pure, flute-like voice and guitar -- so I was already in love with music. But learning to open up my own instrument was life-changing. It was an obvious choice to begin teaching and sharing this experience with others.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Individual instruction -- working one-on-one towards the students particular singing goals. Group instruction -- leading a series of guided group classes (up to 15 people) in various technical instructions. Such as, mouth mechanics, the quiet open throat, proper breath management, and more. Seminars -- one or two hour long lecture-style instruction, with limited audience participation. Topics range, but mainly adhere to the same theory covered in group and individual instruction. Workshops -- one or two hour long meetings, focusing on a single topic of technique. Workshop participants have the option to participate in the exercises.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Find someone that you actually like to work with. If what they are teaching you is working, ignore the nay-sayers. Vocal theory is sometimes controversial from one instructor to the other. But if it is enriching your life -- keep going. And vice versa.
