- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My first teaching experience came in the summer of 2008, when I served as the Music Director at Camp Robin Rogers in Spencerville, Ohio, a program serving children with developmental disabilities. This wonderful experience reaffirmed my belief that anyone, regardless of age or ability, can learn to make music. Watching my students' faces light up as they performed the songs I taught them was one of the greatest joys I have ever experienced. As part of my educational training at ONU, I completed clinical hours with students of all ages in band, choir, and general music. During these times, I would frequently work with small groups or individual students, providing instruction in areas of difficulty. These experiences allowed me to discover the joy of teaching in a completely different way, and I decided that someday I wanted to build my own private studio.
