Susan paired our pup with a dog walker that was wonderful! When our usual gal was unavailable, Susan walked Murphy herself! I knew Murphy was in good hands when Susan requested to meet her first before coming to the house while we were gone to let her out. I would highly recommend Sit Stay Grow for house visit or pet sitting! We have done both and are very please with the cost and services!

Benny is the absolute best!!! I was really in a pinch and needed someone last minute to watch my dogs for a day while I was away. My mom recommended Benny, who she has used often! Benny was so quick and professional in his response to me contacting him. We very quickly set up a meet and greet so he could get to know my boys. He arrived with treats in hand and I could tell from the get go that he truly loves taking care of animals. While I was showing him around and where everything was, he took thorough notes as to their daily routines and eating habits, etc. The day that Benny was taking care of my boys, he arrived right at the times he said he would and sent multiple pictures and updates about his visit and my boys. I felt like I knew exactly what was going on and how my boys were doing the entire time. I highly recommend Benny for all your pet needs. I will definitely be using him again in the future!!

Natasha and Bart were great! I just adopted a bunny a few months ago and had never left her with anyone before. Natasha and Bart excelled at communicating with me daily when checking in with Thumper. I received pictures of my bunny which was very comforting. They were very easy to get in contact with when I needed to talk with them and very professional. I will be using Natasha’s pet sitting services again and recommend others to do the same.

I've known Melinda over 25 years. She loves her animals and clients pets. She treats then as her "babies. The love and care she gives them is one in a million. You couldn't ask for a more caring, responsible, fun person. She is the best. I wouldn't have anyone else take care of my pets. Melinda is the only one I want.

    About

I have a 87 pound 5-year-old German Shepherd of my own that I take care of. I have always had a German Shepherd as a pet, and learned to not only take care of them, but befriend them. The German Shepherd I have now is high energy and very protective of my family and I. I frequently pet sit for a family who owns two dogs and four cats and I have done overnight stays to take care of their pets.

Hi! I'm Mada McCullough, and I'm a high school graduate who absolutely loves animals. If you're looking for someone to look after your furry companions, I'm your girl! Whether it be a cat or a dog, I offer walking at $6/half an hour or $8/hour and pet sitting at $15/visit. If it's needed, you can even bring them over to my home. I have two dogs and three cats of my own that I care for several hours a day as well as two horses (boarded at Canal Winchester). I'm told that I'm brilliant with animals, and I have never met an animal who hasn't warmed up to me. I will be studying pre-veterinary medicine at University of Findlay this fall, and I have tons of experience working with both cats and dogs. I have helped train and discipline every dog my family has owned. I also study animal behavior on my own. I am willing to take your dogs for walks while you're gone and the bigger the dog the friendlier, I say! A choker collar of some sort is always nice, and I have never had a dog hurt itself while wearing one. Harnesses are great as well. If there are any behavioral issues that need to be worked on, I have no problem laying down the law! My two dogs at home are a Rottweiler-Akita, who loves to play and doesn't have a hostile bone in his body, and a Miniature Australian Shepherd, who's not as fond of being bothered. My three cats, Saix, Soccer, and Asher, who don't mind dogs have never done more than playfully bat our dogs on the nose and are all very friendly. If I need to, I will keep the cats away from the other animals. If you should want your dog to stay with me, I have a considerable-sized house and a huge yard for your baby to play on.

I cannot think of a better way to pass along the quality of life that I have learned through all these years. I am punctual, considerate, and most of all, respectful to all people and their pets.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

    • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
    • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
      • 45-minute visit: $28.
      • 60-minute visit: $32.
    • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
    • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
      • 12 hours: $100.
      • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32.
