I've taken piano lessons from Luisa, for a year and half. Very professional. Yet fun and interactive. I brought a guitar piece to her to see if it could be transposed to piano. By the following weeks lesson, she had it ready for me I sheet music. I was so impressed by this, as it was something she did on her own time to help further my music lessons.

Maggie is an excellent teacher, her knowledge and love of music is extensive and spills over to her students. Her classes are fun and well taught. My daughter has excelled in her voice lessons and she has learned, breath control, dynamics, posture, and voice control, but most of all Maggie has brought her out of her shell and my daughter has a new love of music. I recommend Maggie McClure, for piano, voice and song writing lessons, you will not be disappointed!

Okay, Piano is very new to me before I started taking lessons from Tyler. I came from a place where there is no exposure at all, to music at school/college/else where. Tyler made me feel comfortable by teaching the very basic essentials for piano learning and I love the patience he has while teaching. I really do like the approach he has for students like me (all new to the music world). I have a session every week, site reading is what I like, where he shares a lot of techniques which I would not know if I practice by myself. Overall, he is a great teacher and I'm going to take lessons from him until I'm here in the town.

My 7 year old son Mason takes violin from Dr. Marat Gabdulin at the Conservatory. Marat is very patient with us (I have no musical training either). He keeps Mason engaged while maintaining high standards. We look forward to many more lessons and musicianship classes. And it doesn't hurt that when we go to the Philharmonic performances they get to see their instructors performing!

When I started lessons with Jenni I told her I wanted to focus on stamina. That I liked my voice the way it is and all I really wanted help with was makeing it through one of my bands shows without loosing my voice. I’m in a little local indie rock band named goldbrick out of OKC. Within the first month of lessons not only did Jenni completely turn around my stamina issue but my voice was stronger and fuller than ever! Her unique approach to singing focuses not only on the basics of breathing, posture, and hitting your notes but also the in depth anatomy of what your body goes through to sing. Understanding how my body works while singing has made a huge impact in my voice. Before i started I thought this was as good as my singing gets and now I leave every lesson with a smile on my face feeling more confident than ever in my voice. I would recommend Jenni Rose to anyone at any age who is looking to better any aspect of there voice. I couldn’t have asked for a better teacher.

My young son has been wanting to take guitar lessons for a while, but I was having trouble finding someone who gives lessons to younger children. Dereck and G4 have been amazing for my son. He has learned so much under Dereck's guidance. I really appreciate the way Dereck communicates with my son. He has high expectations while making learning to play guitar fun.

About

I began playing guitar at the age of 13. I took a few guitar lessons, but I did not enjoy learning that way. I stopped going to lessons and started taking it upon myself to look back over my take-home lessons that my past instructor gave me. I like to give you enough information to advance yourself both at home and during lessons.

About

Hi! I’m currently a senior voice performance at Oklahoma City University. I’ve been taking voice lessons and piano lessons since I was 10 years old and am so passionate about singing and teaching. I have taken vocal pedagogy classes, and after graduation I plan to pursue a masters and doctorate degree so I can someday teach at the university level. This summer I was accepted into a program in Italy where I sang classical and opera music and got to work with world renowned faculty. I’ve additionally been cast as leads in both musicals and operas at my university.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is CPR training?

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (better known as CPR) is a lifesaving manual technique that pumps oxygenated blood back into the body’s organs if someone’s heart or breathing has stopped. A variety of CPR training is available to community members, employees and healthcare providers. CPR training may last two to five hours or more, depending on the content and the target audience. During the training, students will learn how to recognize and respond to an emergency situation. There are different CPR techniques for adults and children, but with both you will learn how to determine whether the person is conscious before administering chest compression. During the training you’ll learn chest compression techniques for adults and different techniques for children between the ages of 1 and 8. Students learn how to properly administer chest compressions, when the technique is appropriate and when it is not, and how long you must perform rescue measures. Students also learn what an automatic external defibrillator (AED) is and how to use it if necessary to shock a patient before administering CPR chest compressions.

How do I become CPR and first aid certified?

You can earn CPR training and receive first aid certification in a number of ways. Choose an online course to learn the materials remotely and then find a testing location to complete the certification process with an in-person demonstration of your knowledge and skills. Encourage your workplace to host a first aid and CPR training so employees can learn what to do in case of a workplace emergency and how to respond with lifesaving techniques. You may also be able to take a CPR or first aid class in your community. A basic CPR training may run four to five hours. After receiving CPR training, you’ll know how to respond if an adult or a child goes into cardiac arrest or stops breathing. You’ll learn how to use chest compressions to keep blood pumping to a person’s organs, which can keep them alive until an emergency responder can arrive. First aid and CPR training can also include education about how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).

What does a Spanish tutor do?

The goal of a Spanish tutor is to help students improve their Spanish reading, writing, comprehension, and conversation skills. The tutor’s approaches may vary, depending on whether the instruction is individual or a group class. Many Spanish tutors practice immersion — meaning they will speak only Spanish with their pupils. For students with little to no Spanish experience, the Spanish tutor may use a mix of Spanish and English to accustom their students to speaking the language.

A Spanish tutor can offer a wide range of services to their students. For students currently enrolled in a Spanish class through their middle school or high school, a Spanish tutor can help them with homework and language practice, as well as expanding their understanding of their current school curriculum. For adults, Spanish tutors will have different approaches based on that student’s need. Academics and those seeking high-level professional development for their career will often have more intensive and targeted lessons, drills, and interactive speaking tests. For adults who wish to learn conversational Spanish for fun or for travel, lessons may revolve around learning commonly used phrases and practicing speaking in relaxed settings.

What is first aid training?

With first aid training, you may be able to help save a life. First aid training can teach people who are not medical professionals how to help a sick or injured person in crisis before an ambulance arrives on the scene. Most commonly, first aid training helps teach you how to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use automated external defibrillators (AEDs).

First aid training can teach you how to respond in a variety of emergency situations, including:

  • Asthma attack
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Burns
  • Choking
  • Diabetic emergencies
  • External bleeding
  • Heart attack
  • Poisoning
  • Neck, head or back injury
  • Stroke
  • Seizure

First aid training classes may be offered by professionals who are affiliated with the Red Cross, which offers online, in-person, and blended training classes. First aid classes are also often offered through local recreation centers, city services, schools, hospitals and private companies.

How much do Spanish tutors charge?

Nationally, the average cost for a Spanish tutor ranges from $30 to $40 per hour. The cost for a Spanish tutor can vary depending on whether you choose private instruction or group lessons. Geographic location can affect cost; tutors in expensive cities and pricier regions command higher rates than in rural areas and small towns. The experience and education of the Spanish tutor will also affect their rates. For adult education, many people learning Spanish choose to join a Spanish school with tutors who teach group classes and also offer private tutoring for students. Typically these schools charge a monthly tuition that gives students access to a set number of classes per week, with private tutoring available at an additional cost. One example of an average cost is a monthly tuition of $200, which includes five 90-minute group lessons per month. Monthly tuition can vary depending on the school and the teachers. Short-term workshops are also a way to learn Spanish. Students may work with a Spanish tutor and group of other students at their skill level for a short period of time. One example of an average price is $100 for an eight-week course, with one 60-minute group class per week.
