Under Dr. LaCombes tutelage, I earned both a Bachelor of Arts in Music (Vocal Emphasis) and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance. To date, she is the only vocal instructor with whom I completely trust my voice. Dr. LaCombe articulates very clearly how to produce healthy sounds, how to research music in order to better understand and interpret songs, and most importantly, how to really enjoy singing no matter what goal may be (hobby or career). In addition to learning proper vocal technique and interpretive skills, I learned many practical skills that pertain to teaching and performingconcert etiquette, time management (specifically pertaining to practice), organization, successfully programming a recital, so on and so forth. Dr. LaCombes teaching skills are quite innovative and appeal to auditory, visual, and kinesthetic learners alike. She teaches everything from jazz to opera with equal ease.
As a performer, Dr. LaCombe has accumulated much experience and applies it to the private setting. She has acquired vast knowledge of vocal literature and communicates a strong command of languages both in performance and teaching. Said knowledge allowed me to be much more efficient! She never did the work for me, but she could always point me towards the right resources.
Dr. LaCombes greatest asset is her ability to bring out the absolute best in students regardless of whether they are beginners or professionals, have little talent or an extraordinary amount of talent. If you are interested in singing as a hobby, aspire to teach voice, want to pursue performance or even sing in a rock band, I strongly recommend studying with Dr. LaCombe. Doing so was the best decision I have ever made, and I still reap the benefits of her indelible influence.
