I took a cooking class from Bonnie, at her home in Portland. It was a comfortable environment, that class was customized for me, and I learned A LOT about basics like breakfast, sauces, and soups. I had a great time, and plan to attend more classes, and bring along friends. And, let me not forget, everything was DELICIOUS!
John and his wife did a fantastic job providing my work group a great team building activity by providing cooking lessons in my home. They struck the right balance between teaching and letting us socialize. Even though the event was hosted at my home, I was able to relax and enjoy the event -- The Refuge Chef took care of everything!
Dustin catered a dinner at my home that far exceeded my expectations. From the start, after reviewing his menus I knew his style of cooking was perfect for my event. Dustin was very flexible and versatile as I changed the date, had special dietary preferences to work around and sprung a surprise wedding meal on him. Dustin's meal was a perfect addition to our intimate backyard wedding. Each dish was innovative using fresh, seasonal and local ingredients. The starters were perfectly balanced and a nice way to start the meal. The first and second course included local ingredients like heirloom beets and cedar plank salmon with a delicious side of parsnip purée and peach conserva. Dustin did a great job pairing savory and sweet and taking advantage of all of the freshest ingredients. Dessert was a dark chocolate pot de creme that melted in your mouth. Above all Dustin fit into the occasion flawlessly. He truly is an inspired chef that I would recommend with highest marks and will use for future catered events!
Heather is the CEO of our food dept. She continues week to week to deliver quality healthy meals to our family. Her cooking has expanded our boys palate's and has been able to relieve stress and time on putting a healthy cooked meal's on the table. Heather has been able to come up with weekly menu's that involve food sensitivities and allergies. Heather has also helped us plan and cook for entertainment purposes for any occasion! She is a steady constant in our household that is fun to be around and has an amazing passion for her cooking.
The event was a plant based cooking class with 10 people preparing a Mexican dinner. Everyone took on at least 2 different dishes and we shared the meal at the end. It was a good group that interacted well with each other and we had a lot of fun. Emily cruised through the different stations answering questions and helping people with their dishes. She spoke with confidence and authority on nutritional facts and food preparation while keeping it light hearted and enjoyable.I would not hesitate a moment to take another one of her classes.
I have known Jos for years and she has always impressed everyone with her cooking knowledge and expertise. From simple to extravagant, she does it all with style. Jos has created some of the best foods I have ever eaten! I have hired her to make client gifts for me, and lucky for me she made extra, because the salted caramel bars were out-of-this-world delicious! Jos is a women who knows her way around a kitchen, she makes outstanding dishes and her personality is warm, loving, and she genuinely cares about the people she works with.
I am fortunate enough to have spent an entire week cooking with Tina. She was posed with quite a task, taking this kitchen clumsy girl and turning her into an enthusiastic cook. From basic ingredient prep. through meal completion, Tina was always patient and my constant personal cheerleader. I now have a ton of confidence to start preparing all the recipes I was provided, as well as to create my own dishes. In addition to all I learned about cooking, Tina also provided me with a wealth of knowledge on nutrition, raw food benefits, and sweetener and dairy substitutes to name a few. I can't say enough about Tina. She is an amazing teacher who really cares about her clients' health and well being. Thanks Tina!
I have had one cooking lesson with Nathan and it was a blast! He is teaching me the fundementals of cooking by breaking the classes down into different types of proteins. He is completely open minded about how the class will be organized and what he will teach you. The learning curve is steep when you are learning techniques in your kitchen, with all your own cooking tools.
I first enjoyed Chef Jenns delicious food at a work event, and then hired her to cater a dinner party, and then a small brunch at my home. The food at each event was AMAZING!! My guests raved about it for weeks! Jenn is truly a creative Chef, who is very passionate about her cooking. It really shows in her food! I also like that she uses fresh, organic ingredients and has many healthy menu options. I highly recommend her catering services, and will definitely use her again.
Emma's cooking lesson was such a wonderful experience! Emma worked around my food allergies (gluten and cow dairy) and taught me how to make a delicious meal! Emma made the whole experience so much fun and made me feel confident in expanding my cooking skills! I will be recommending her to all my friends and family!
Noriko Hirayama presents an elegant cooking experience. She is friendly, has a very clean and efficient working environment and works with you through the entire process of making a variety of dishes--a full menu each session. All food that each person cooks is theirs to take home.or join fellow students in her lovely dining room. I have taken other cooking classes, but Noriko is by far the most organized, uses truest ingredients to the cuisine and teaches very closely to the ethnicity. She is extremely knowledgeable with extensive cooking schooling in Thailand. She is a gem.
Private dinner for 7 @ a private residence. The food was awesome and the presentation was out of this world. There is nothing I would change. The evening was flawless.
Dee is a fantastic cook, and her expertise and experience in cooking Latin and Caribbean cuisine comes straight from the heart. Her tamales and jerk chicken are especially delicious, and will leave you wanting more. I would highly recommend attending one of her cooking classes!
Marc Frech of Spark is not only an experienced and talented chef he has the gift for teaching. Our group enjoyed his company and conversation just as much as the cooking instruction and joy of eating it together. The 3 course dinner had some very sophisticated flavors and texture but not too complicated. Real food, real fresh, and after this class even I could make it and so will. I highly recommend Marc. It was a very enjoyable evening.

Our non-profit had 2 wonderful events with Mon Chef! We had a farm to table lunch at our farm, and he cooked on the spot with all of the available vegetables and made very delicious 5 course meal: Kale chips, Corn soup, Caprese salad, Squash risotto, and 3 Sorbets from our cantaloupe, honeydew, and watermelons. EVERYONE that participated was blown away at his talent and taste of the foods. The event went so well, we invited Mon Chef to replicate the same lunch for our staff to partake and enjoy. Mon Chef is very professional, has fantastic presentation, and created an ambiance that was unique and special. I recommend his services to any event, private party, or individual. Carey taught cooking classes at my cooking school in the Palm Springs area for several years. She is both an excellent teacher and a talented chef, which is the biggest challenge in running a professional cooking school. It is extremely difficult to find both attributes in one person. Her knowledge, professionalism, and quality of cuisine is exceptional, and I highly recommend her services.
