Chris was great, showed up early and was extremely professional and quick. I will use him again to stain the fence.
Rick was hired to install 41' of chain link fence. This involved tear down and removal of existing wood fence. Rick was timely, professional and customer friendly. The entire job and cleanup was done in a timely manner. He had 2 customers to please as the fence was a split cost between neighbors. All parties were were super pleased with the finished product--and price we might add. We would highly recommend Rick Sandoval of Sandrod Fencing.
Daniel hung 4 doors, ran all the baseboard trim, windows trim and trimmed out 3 closets for me. Additionally, he filled, caulked and painted all the trim and painted the trim and doors. Three of the doors and jambs needed to be altered so it was no easy job. He also filled, primed and painted the risers on my fir stairs. His bid was extremely reasonable and his start date was exactly when I needed it. Daniel is polite, clean, professional, on time and on budget. He worked long hours and was really flexible while I was lining up floor refinishing. Really, he is a great guy and his work is high quality. Daniel was a pleasure to work with and communicate with. He is prompt on returning messages. I wish all the contractors I used were as good as Daniel. The work he did for me was on a rental and I will be using him to hang some exterior doors, run trim and pain at the house I live in. I showed his work to a few neighbors and they want his number now. It was a pleasure to work with Daniel and I will be using him for all my carpentry needs. He is highly recommended for any of your remodeling needs.
My husband and I contacted over 20 fencing companies in Portland for our project and we felt extremely discouraged because most companies were either unresponsive, booked out for over a month, or incredibly expensive. Richard was amazing and exceeded all of our expectations! Our fence was started and finished in 3 days from booking. He was very responsive, willing to work with our constraints since we hadn't yet moved into the house but needed the fence for our dogs. The price was extremely fair and best of all our fence is gorgeous! We absolutely love it. Also, Richard's team who worked on the fence were extremely professional, kind, and hardworking. They stayed until 9pm on Wednesday just to get the fence finished for us. I wholeheartedly recommend Cedar Fence & Decks! We'll be hiring them again for our roofing and exterior painting projects which are the sister companies to Cedar Fence & Decks.
Lloyd did a great job installing some good-neighbor and hogwire fencing at my house. He was professional and came back a week after the project was done to do a few cosmetic modifications for us. Would definitely recommend.
Julian did an excellent job building a fence and ripping out a lot of big bushes. His work crew was great. I was impressed with his response time and how quickly the job was completely. I will be hiring him again.
Bob showed up on time, followed through with the plan for fencing work, and charged me exactly what he quoted. I would definitely hire him again.
I had initially contacted Scott about cleaning the gutters on my 2 story house. Scott was great a communicating re: his timeline and the expectations on the project. He texted me to let me know he was running late on the way to the job due to traffic. He was also available to repair the fence in my backyard when the guy we had originally contacted to repair our fence had gotten too busy.
Our family had just moved into a new home and we needed an easy to use staircase from the deck down to the yard which also needed fencing for the dogs. We found ThumbTack by chance and choose A1 Retrofit because of the reasonable quote given us. We are sure glad we DID choose to use A1 Retrofit because we got great value for our investment and attention to detail that we might not have gotten from anyone else. Great salesmanship, very competent and amenable contractors, and Brad is just plain nice and easy to get along with. How often do you find all of those traits in a business in this 'get-it-done' quickly world?? And, 2 particular dogs couldn't be happier with a nice fenced yard and easy access to the door upstairs !
I like the fence he made. It is firm and assembled well and good quality wood.
Approved the bid to build 100 feet of cedar fence on Wednesday and the job was completed on Friday. Very responsive, reasonable price and nice job.
I was quite pleased with my experience. JHernandez Construction did a great job building my fence. He gave me a great price and completed the job sooner than any of the other builders would.
We met with several people about staining our fence, and were very impressed with Duane. He was one of the few people who came out prepared with a measuring wheel to measure the fence himself, he had his license number on the quote, and he seemed to really know what he was talking about. We were so impressed with Duane that we asked him to come out and stain our front porch as well. He seems to have knowledge well beyond painting, so I intend to keep his information on hand. I feel confident that when he agrees to take on a project he won't settle for anything less than doing a phenomenal job.
Travis and his team did a pretty good job on our fence. The staff was respectable and nice. They asked a lot of questions etc around work which I preferred. The fence turned out exactly as I had asked for but required close monitoring via communication. They were timely and affordable...and while the quality of the work might not a 5 star...for what they did, it was a fair price. I would work with this team again. I had quotes for our fence from at least 9 contractors...and only All Backyard Construction and another quoted me this low. You are getting decent quality work for a good price. I would recommend them to friends and family...and I just recommended them to a colleague as we speak.
Mike was the first to respond to a Thumbtack site post and explained that while his business is yard work, he's expanding into fences and decks. He visited to take a look at the work and measure before providing an estimate, which was about the same as an earlier amount I'd received. He's been terrific in communicating throughout. I knew I wanted the entire, decrepit fence replaced but didn't have a grasp of all the details that entailed. Mike made sure to talk through the process and various issues with me, making sure I approved or incorporated my changes. He explained flexibility on post spacing helped - instead of gunning for even spacing, I was fine with offsets from the existing bases so it saved effort to just cut the old ones at ground line. Like any battle plan, there were surprises that led to changes but Mike checked with me as we went along and made sure I was comfortable with what his crew did. The only detail I wasn't completely satisfied with was more my fault for not being clear, on the post foundation concrete top level. But I got the fence I wanted with a contractor who was wonderful to interact with - Mike and his crew did a great deal of work in a short amount of time. And the fence looks great!
I'm not sure where to start. You have to wow me to get a five star review, and Pro Fence way more than wowed me. Very prompt, surprisingly efficient, unbelievably quick, and extremely well-built. I am absolutely positive who I'm calling next time I need a fencing contractor, and I would highly recommend Pro Fence to anybody looking to have a fence built.
Very nice young men who were prompt at getting the job done in two days. We were very happy with the work they did building gates at either side of our house. Nice work matching up with neighbors fence that one side abutted up to.
Brandon is a conscientious and skilled craftsman. He was patient during the bid process and worked with us as we worked with neighbors to gain consensus on the contractor choice. His bid was very competitive among the other bonded and insured contractors. Once the job began, he overcame multiple adverse circumstances to finish the work. We are pleased with the end result and would recommend Brandon to others looking for a contractor they can trust.
We had David trim out some windows on a stucco exterior that had been installed previously. He did a nice job installing them and painted them all to match. In addition David installed interior lights in our house and he also did some work staining the fence out back. Very happy, would recommend him for further projects.
This will be a relatively long review. The reason is because I own and operate a business in the contracting field (custom cabinetry) so I am able to review this company from the perspective of a client, but also from someone who knows the industry well and the anxiety that people feel when looking to hire contractors for projects. I understand that many people have a difficult time evaluating overall VALUE when making major home purchases. We all know that the cheapest option isn't always the best one, but how do you determine where your money is best spent? So I'm laying out this review from that perspective. For those who don't want to read on...I would highly recommend Roraima and we will be using them again for additional home projects. PROJECT: We wanted to remove a window and door from a wall in our dining kitchen area. The window looked directly into a neighbors fence and the door is never used. We plan to put a custom bar/cabinetry and artwork on the newly closed wall. We have plenty of natural light from other doors, windows and skylights. Will likely post final pictures once cabinetry is done:) QUOTE PROCESS: I love Thumbtack and there aren't many remodel companies using them in Portland. I hope that grows, it's a great process. Anyway, Roraima responded to my request within 1 business day and we had a time set up for Jose and Tony to come out within 2 days to evaluate the overall project more thoroughly. Jose and Tony showed up on-time and were very respectful of our space and time. They were personable, but efficient. A quote was given via email within 1 business day and it was clear what was included in the quote and what was not included. When they were at our home, Tony made sure to be clear about what areas they knew might be tricky (matching our ceiling texture) and how cost might be added (once the wall was opened up, unexpected things can pop up). Since I'm in the industry, I'm well aware of how you don't know "what's behind the wall" until it's opened, so I did expect that complications can arise once that occurs. We asked where there was some opportunity to reduce overall costs once we received the quote and through that discussion, decided to remove the existing cabinet ourselves (which was easy). WORK PROCESS: Again, Tony and Jose showed up on-time the first day and got straight to work FIRST with blocking off the work area from the rest of our open living room. The tools and care they use to reduce dust to the rest of the home is awesome! I'm in a lot of home remodels and I've never seen the specific tools they use (the posts they use to keep the plastic tight to create their own "room" and the zipper they put in to create a door for closing off fully). Plus, at the end of the day, they left their own work area super clean (photo shown). I appreciate people who work like that. They said "it's like a chefs kitchen". The work took longer than they expected, but they clearly communicated why and what they were doing as they went along. We were heading out of town so it didn't matter to us if it took a couple extra days, which we communicated ahead of time. There were a couple additional costs that came up, but they were communicated ahead of time to be approved by us. We increased the amount of new insulation to be used, as the old insulation wasn't adequate or quality in some parts and we shifted a couple other things based on the new cabinet design. ABOVE and BEYOND: As mentioned, we went out of town while they were working. On the first day we left, the dog sitter ended up getting tied up and coming later than expected. She didn't let us know that. At the end of the work day, Tony texted me to let us know they were done for the day but that our dog hadn't been outside since we left. He asked if we'd like him to let her out. That meant them staying longer after a very long work day, but he offered because they like our dog and are genuinely caring human beings. It was such a great thing to know that we had two strangers (essentially) in our home and that not only did we need to not worry about our space, they were also looking out for our precious four legged family member! He even sent a video of her relieving herself so that we knew she was doing well. FINAL RESULTS: Great experience and value overall for sure! We had a cheaper quote, but the contractor was slow to get back to us and answer any questions. He was personable, but he didn't take the time to explain where issues could arise and how they would be handled. Those are HUGE value points for me, knowing how so many small remodelers can often be terrible with communication. That was not the case here at all. I also get the feeling that this is a crew that if they can't do something well, they'll tell you that. I don't see them saying yes to a project they can't tackle and do well, which to me is also a sign of a good company. Highly recommended.
When talking to contractors about our remodel, I was overwhelmed. That is, until I found Surfaces NW. I used them to get a new roof, insulation, fence, deck, paint for interior/exterior, as well as a remodel for both of my bathrooms and kitchen! We are in love with our place, and feel like we have a brand new house!!
