My son has improved with piano a lot since Bonnie. She knows her stuff and encourages students to learn. My son was ready to drop out but now is developing a growing interest

I am proud to have won both of Thumbtack's Best of 2015 and Best of 2016 awards, thanks to outstanding reviews. Also, I offer training directly from New York City, having graduated from the Manhattan School of Music in 2009. I can teach (and sing) in any style, and offer a unique, direct, and patient approach to singing. I have performed on the stages of Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher, two Off-Broadway shows, and toured with hip-hop super group Deltron 3030, culminating in a Letterman Show appearance. I live my life to inspire and be inspired. I have the best job in the world. There is nothing more satisfying than watching each individual student grow. From a budding opera singer that flourished, winning spots in every school she auditioned for, to a timid backup singer in a local pop band that has charged to the position of front man, I am eager to be a part of YOUR story.

Eighteen years ago Brian Eliason began teaching Music in the Portland area. As he starting teaching he noticed two big holes in the learning of local students. First he noticed students who could play by ear well but did not understand the reading the notes. Second he noticed students who could read notes but had not developed their ability to play by ear. From this experience he created the Complete Instruction Method, a balanced approach that teaches musicians how to learn music purely by hearing it as well as the skill of reading and understanding sheet music. This balanced, dual approach gives students more tools to achieve higher levels of play, it removes frustration and brings out the joy in experiencing music! The method has caught on and has grown from a studio of a dozen students to a school of 400 students of all ages who now participate in this new approach to learning. The method works for all instruments and currently is being taught at the school for piano, violin, cello, viola and guitar. We welcome you to visit our website or give us a call anytime to find out more about how fun and rewarding it can be to learn music. One of the most enjoyable aspects of teaching is listening to music that sounds poor at first and showing someone how to change it and beautify it. It is also very rewarding to watch students love to play their instruments for the pure joy of playing.

Enjoy the adventure! Music Studio: I teach in West Linn. If this is convenient for you, I'd love to hear from you! I teach voice and piano, and enjoy working with all ages and abilities: youth and adults, frog and canary voices. Voice: I believe anyone can sing, with gentle guidance and encouragement! I enjoying working with all ages: young, emerging musicians, adults trying something new, and seasoned performers wanting to move to the next level. Many students come with specific performing goals; others want to pursue music simply for the pleasure of it. Many of my adult students were told they "couldn't sing," or asked to "mouth the words" when in a school choir. It is a great pleasure to help these students claim and celebrate their musical abilities. Breathing techniques and a relaxed focus are based on a classical approach for optimum vocal health. These techniques are then applied to the styles of interest for the student - pop, musical theatre, folk, gospel, and classical. I work with each student to create an individualized program. Musicianship, including phrasing, expression, and performance skills, are naturally incorporated. Vocal students are welcome (though not required!) to integrate a modified study of keyboard and or sight reading to enhance musicianship and musical literacy. Piano: I welcome beginning and intermediate piano students, ages 5 to 95! Most important is to find music that will excite and inspire. With a background performing a variety of styles including classical, rock, pop, and jazz infused, I can help you find what you want to play. Artistry, comfortable technique, and accessible music theory are linked within the goals and interests of each student. Together, we will develop a customized plan that fits you! Guitar: I offer friendly, accessible beginning guitar lessons to get you started. We start right off with chords and songs, checking to make sure your hand positions are relaxed and flow easily. Once you master strumming and basic fingerpicking, you graduate to master guitar teacher Mark Hanson (see below)! About Greta: I've been a professional musician for over 30 years, as an educator, performer and songwriter. I've appeared internationally in concerts, arts festivals, night clubs, and schools, and on radio and television. My instruments include piano, guitar, and mountain dulcimer. Currently, I perform an eclectic mix of styles, including blues, jazz, folk and classic rock with Grammy winning guitarist Mark Hanson. I also offer solo piano and piano/vocal music for special occasions, plus engaging and interactive programs for schools, libraries, and family-oriented events. 2009 National Artist of the Year, Young Audiences Award of Excellence, Film Advisory Board: Friendship Stew (CD) Classic Recording Award for Music is Magic (CD) Music BA, Stanford University Music Teaching Credential, San Jose State University Music Study, Vienna Austria

It's very important to me that my students have fun while learning holistic techniques that will make you a strong performer in any style that you choose. I have two studio locations, one in Jantzen Beach near downtown Vancouver and a studio in inner Southeast Portland near the Hawthorne Bridge. Music and performance have been my life since I was 6 years old, which led me to earn my BAC in Theater Arts and Music Performance in addition to my MS in Theater Arts and Performance. In addition to directing, acting and performing, I have taught voice, piano, flute, acting and speech for 20 years and have cultivated an approach to teaching that will help you become a well-rounded performer and musician. I will coach you to feeling confident both in your abilities and your knowledge. With my guidance music theory and sight reading can be fun and de-mystified! Ear training abd history can give you a more complete context for voice, piano and flute. As an acting student, we will study pragmatic physical skills like breath, strengthening exercises, script analysis and methods. All of my students learn foundations in their fields, develop strong stage presence, and the importance of productive self critique. My focus is on you, the performer as a whole. I will also work with you on marketing strategy if you are interested in this, because ultimately, being able to share your new skills, craft and confidence with an audience and make a living from your art can be an achievable goal paramount to forging a career in the industry. "Those moments when a student has a break through in their studies. The reactions are priceless." (Coach Kristin) "Traveling to new places for work and training like Austria, Chicago, and San Francisco" (Coach Kristin) "Working with consummate professionals like Metropolitan Opera Directors Elizabeth Bachman and Tito Capobianco, or International Directors like David Edwards" (Coaches Rachael and Kristin)

I perform as well as teach. I'm a member of several music clubs, and am a church organist and choir accompanist. I love working with people. I like watching them grow more confident, both musically and personally. I attend master classes given by visiting pianists to Portland. Many times what I learn can light a spark in a student, and the music comes alive. That's a thrill for any teacher. I am a continuing piano student myself and have studied with the same Portland teacher for the past 16 years. There's always something new to learn. I'm a student of the Taubman technique. My approach is thorough and gets results. Improved singing technique in just a few lessons. Piano students play with fewer errors in rhythm, and notes and expression. The people with whom I work especially when I see the joy making music brings to their lives.
